Got this Kershaw Launch 15 in yesterday. Today it fell off a chair onto a vinyl floor and the tip chipped. Not super impressed that a magnacut tip could break from 24 inches onto vinyl.

Is there concrete, nails, or some other hard material underneath the vinyl? That might have made it worse. Plus, when I drop a knife it rarely falls perpendicular to the ground and usually spins/twists on its way down. The tip could have easily poked the floor while the knife kept spinning, adding lateral stress to a fine point.

But in reality, that looks like a very fine tip that was just looking to get dinged up. I have had similar damage to knives in Magnacut, AEB-L, 14C28N, 1095, etc. with very fine tips. It's annoying, but it's also an easy fix with some diamond plates. At least it didn't stick your foot.

I’d be a little upset if I didn’t plan to use the knife. I have a feeling you’ll be able to fix that with 1 lite sharpening. Production knives often need to be sharpened a few times before you’ll notice the true abilities of the steel used. In my experience, it’s not a matter of if, but when you’ll chip a tip off - especially with blade profiles like that Kershaw.

what’s the HRC, Magnacut gets quirkery if the hardness is pushed too much beyond the low 60’s sweet spot

That's one of the trade offs with very fine point knives like that, regardless of the steel. There is so little metal behind that tip that there isn't much support for it. It's an easy fix though and shouldn't take too much to fix.
