Kershaw Leek: Titanium and ZDP pics...see them here-FIRST!

Joe, we are using straight ZDP-189, not the laminate. I think it is just my bad images that must be playing tricks on you.

Are there future runs being contemplated?
There are future plans being discussed now. Here are a few links on possible future Kershaw ZDP projects.

Mr. Thomas W. , That knife hooks me deeper every time I go back to the pictures. A great knife will have that effect though.

Lastly, thank you for being patient and keeping us informed. You put in a bunch of time doing what a lot of others wouldn't have bothered to do. Much success to you in the future. We need people like you at the highest levels in this industry. Sal Glesser is another guy I have much respect for.

Quality breeds success! Regards, Joe L.

Thanks again Thomas for making this knife project a reality, now I don't have to do my framelock s30v project as this certainly came out better. To think that we all had a part in this knife really puts it in the sentimental category and I don't even have one yet! I had my girl read the thread and post I was in when we all were tossing the idea around and you asked if we would really be interested in a knife with these materials and at the MSRP, we all said YES! . . and then you went to bat for us to get it produced. She was so impressed by that, she said she would buy it for me!!!!

(I've been having bill troubles and other woes due to my motorcycle accident so she's been showering me with gifts!) The greatest girlfriend ever!:D

Can't wait for it. Keep up the good work!

P.S. really what’s so bad about the lock on it, if you don't like it you can just leave it in the unlocked position and it stays right there. Great feature.

You know, I'm thinking of this knife and wondering what could have made it better - closer the ideal of a perfect pocket knife. And, I just can't think of much. If I was on an island concocting in my mind the perfect pocket knife, knowing that there is no such thing, this would come just about as close as feasibly possible to reaching the goal.

$199 seems at first like a lot of money but, I don't mind paying this knowing that I will be getting such a well designed, easy to carry and imminently useful knife.

This makes me even more excited about the future of Kershaw. Can't wait to see what else Kershaw has up its sleeve.

This really has been quite a year for kershaw.:D

As far as the safety goes on my Leek, I just put it into the open position and torqued the screw down a bit to hold it and it has never moved.

Thomas, thanks so much for listening to the consumer, there are many that do not.

Sweet. That design is too good to only release as a liner lock. ZDP + framelock is just what the doctor ordered.
Maybe it's just me, but the pics make this knife look like a framelock, not a linerlock.

IT is a framelock NOW, it was a linerlock BEFORE this knife.

Wow, I'm impressed. Do not let anyone try to talk you into changing the specs on it to make it just barely over 7", as a lot of manufacturers (cough..Spyderco...cough) are mysteriously doing now. What a great material, and weight!

Anyone think having a dedicated Kershaw forum in the Manufacturers section is a good idea? I am trying to twist some arms, but I am not sure if it is Kershaw Inc, Thomas W, or Cougar Allen - Bladeforums we have to twist?

Add your vote if you are interested. If it works it works, if not it will work at some time in the future :)

To keep on topic, I will nip out to House of Knives in Square One Shopping Centre tomorrow and add my order for one of these.

cheers

I put in my name on a ( one of the big, and respected internet knife sellers) waiting list yesterday and found out there's a good probability I won't get one. There are a bunch of folks ahead of me.

You snooze, you lose. I'll just have to keep trying. I'll find one somewhere. Joe L.

I am still waiting for a price from my Dist. I usually deal with. Oh well atleast I have my name on one. Just dont know what I am going to pay...

Thomas, is there any chance of Kershaw making their knives ambidextrous?
PerformanceFirst, sorry to miss answering this.

I think that we are trying to make more of an effort to bring forth knives that are ambidextrous. It is important to us that we not leave behind potential buyers. It gets a little confusing to me on if we should set up a knife with 4 clip "stages", when the lock is not designed to be lefty friendly (liner and frame lock), but maybe that is just me. Case in point, the new ZT 0200 is a heavy duty liner lock, which is set up with 4 clip positions. IMO, it was strange to set it up that way, as the lefty clip was not conducive for this lock set up. Maybe the lefty has made adjustments to compensate, but this combination is by no means the perfect set up. I would venture to say that both the lock and the clip need to work in better harmony to bring the most out of the knife. Then again, maybe the lefty is just desperate in looking for knives.
In any case, our vision is certainly not to turn our back on the left hand user, despite that category being a big minority. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Come on now Steven, Joe, the standard Leek (1660) has always been a frame lock.

oh yeah, sorry, I had blanked that out of my memory, bad me.
