This is what I initially suggested to do July 2006:

Kershaw-Cyclon-001-ZDP.jpg

Cyclone ZDP BC coated blade and handle + G10 red inserts.

and this is what I get April 2007:

It is bigger then I expected. Handle scales is noticible thick 1/8" almost twice then ZLeek has.

It also wider and so does not looks small at all, more like short but stout. Lock looks especially strong.

Weight is 4 oz. Initial sharpness 90 g.

Here it is with his big Brother - I wish Kershaw has some ZDP189 left and will made full size Cyclone also.

And this is Zyclone with ZLeek - Zyclone is for sure Sebenza killer IMHO:

Thanks, Vassili.

what would you say are the degrees of the edges?
I'd like to get one but I don't want to have to reprofile it.

I did not sharpen it so far - no need 90 gramm sharpness is good. But I guess it is usual for Kershaw 30 degree angle - 15+15. Edge is thin, I do not expect any troubles reprofiling it.

And I had no troubles reprofiling ZDP or sharpening ZDP on ZLeek. I did not notice differnce in sharpening and reprofiling at all (of course I use diamonds for sharpening), it is actually easyer then 420HC for example.

Thanks, Vassili.

P.S. And it cuts freely hanging hair.

Thanks, Vassili.

Nice pics Vassili.

I agree, I'd go for a full size Cyclone too.

While I wouldn't call it exactly a Sebenza killer, I'd compare it to a Sebbie any day. Kershaw really did a fine job on this knife.

Vassili, beautiful pictures as always. Thanks for your efforts! I'm enjoying mine also. Kershaw has done a great job again!

is this knife an assisted opening like many of the kershaws? I really like how it looks but im really not a fan of the assisted opening--i find it really rather dangerous.

Thanks,

thal

Please, please, please say it is a Ti handle?

With all my pleasure - it is a Ti handle, thick, fat Ti handle!

It is even better - it has switchable assisted opening, you may turn it off if you do not like it and it is pretty well locked closed both with AO or without. I would say it is more tight when it is with AO.

Thanks, Vassili.

Nice pics of a great knife. I would love to see a run of the large size as well.

You keep looking for that Sebenza-Killer, Vassili. Everybody needs a dream ;)

Well, do you remember as at some point almost every manufacturers starts making titanium frame-locks with CPM S30V - Dominators, Bumps, Buck TNT, Bradley... It is not my dream, but most manufacturers tried to do what CR did without real success. So Sebenza is kind of milestone and I guess my point is that Zyclone is way ahead of other attempts and pretty close (if not better ;) ).

Thanks, Vassili.

These are selling around the $140 mark. I just picked up one at GPknives.com. Can't wait for this one. Seems to be a solid EDC size. Short and stout. I to could go without the speed assist, but just another cool thing about this knife. I actually thought it a straight framelock at first.

Great looking pic's, thank you.
If you don't mind my cutting in, I can add.... This is a great leap forward for Kershaw. Best Kershaw I have ever had. (just got mine in) This is a very comfortable knife in the hand, the edges are well rounded. It's solid in lockup (no wiggle in any way) and easy to unlock. Even when parked, the blade barely wiggles. The on/off switch is a great idea for me, since I don't plan to use the "speed" much. Bronze washers, really nice looking clip, quality. Oh, forgot, the ZDP, can't wait to test it.

I think Kershaw should put it in production. W&H completely moves to ZDP. Sal Glesser has production Endura, Delica and Caly 3 with ZDP. Kershaw should also start regular not limited production of ZDP knives and this one is just excellent candidate with full size Cyclne (JD&JDII I guess also).

Thanks, Vassili.
