Kershaw OD-1 Wish List?

I'm gonna go ahead and say titanium handles with CRK framelock...Saw one of these at a local store, almost left with it.

od-1 had a CRK integral lock, as well as a hinderer lock stabilizer, i dont think the lock can really be improived upon, unless it came in titanium.

I've had an OD-1 for about 2 months now. Great knife. Only improvement I'd like to see.
A. Some jimping on top of the handle/blade.
B. The knurled flipper should be one piece or pressed into the handle. When new the screw in mine came out. A little lock tite solved this.
C. Tip up carry that does not stick out of pocket so much.

1)Deep pocket clip.
2) colored G10 (Orange)
3)VG-10/ S30V.
But for the money I'm not bitching, great knife.

I just got mine less than a week ago and its almost the perfect knife for me. Only problem I have with it is the clip. Some more variations with better materials would be nice, and also a version with a linerlock might prevent people from squeezing the lock when opening.

I picked up a Kershaw OD-1 just over a week ago. I have been absolutely impressed by this knife. A smooth as silk flipper framelock with G-10 for $40.00. Whats not to like. I hope in the not to distant future that Kershaw gives us some options for this model as they have with other models. Such as blade steels. I believe it would be an outstanding platform for their composite ZDP-189 blade or even the damascus. I also would like to see one offered with orange G-10. And last but not least, I think an OD-2 which could be a bit larger. About the size of the ZT in the photo, but has the same action and options. What say you?

:)

I just purchased a Kershaw OD-1. I like it but its not perfect "for me"

I noticed an indentation with lot of material missing from the rear of the frame lock, Achilles' Heel?

I would like to see the Lock without so much indentation (Less Material Removed) at the rear (Achilles' Heel?) and a Drop Point and Wharncliffe blade offering.

All frame locks I've seen have the same indentation. That's needed for the lock to be able to flex. Without it you couldn't release the lock, it would be too stiff. I've never heard of a lock failing there either. The ZT pictured with it also has a relief cut in the liner lock.

However, for appearance, it would look better to have it on the inside of the lock as on the Leek.

I have a few other frame lock knives that are same thickness from one end to the other and they function perfectly, easily for me, not stiff at all.

The appearance of the Kershaw OD-1 is fine for me. It just concerns me to see so much material removed from an area that flexes. It seems an unnecessary weak area. I may return it as I think about it more and wait for the next generation. . .

I would buy one for sure, but the G-10 on one side and metal on the other is a big turn-off for me. I hope the next generation comes with either an all metal handle or G-10 scales on both sides. The half and half just doesn't resonate with me.

I wouldn't mind seeing a "high end" model with a titanium frame and maybe CPM-110V blade. Having said that though, this knife has been in my pocket for most of the two weeks that I've owned it. It fits the hand well as is, takes a great edge, and is affordable. What more can you ask for?

I returned the Kershaw OD-1 because of the frame lock design. I prefer my Sanrenmu 710 as the frame lock seems sturdier to me for 1/5 the price.

Well that's good. I hear there's a recession in China also. The restocking where ever yours was returned will keep an American working at least.

:thumbdn:

I'm digging mine, I would definitely like to see some variants.

I totally agree. I agree with the one poster, I wouldn't mind seeing a larger OD-1 as well in the future. But if the futures OD-1's are to be the same size, a nice Orange G10 OD-1 would look nice in my collection :)

Wouldn't a thumb stud defeat the purpose of the whole design?

The OD-2 is a bit smaller, like a Chive from what I understand.

I've been really impressed with 14C28N, but an orange G-10 with some D2 would be pretty sweat.

I'd want one like the one on the zing.

Can I request a pic of it in the closed position? I really just want to see the flipper close up. I've seen pics, but they didn't focus on the flipper. It's different, from what I saw before.

I do REALLY like the look of this knife, though, and it also seems to be functional for my purposes (no crazy recurves like many other Kershaws).
