Well I have had my OD1 for exactly a week now and I have to say this is the first knife that I have bought in a long time that I am totally obsessed with !

My girlfriend says I have a non-sexual crush on my newest knife :D... I cant stop holding it and flipping it , I even take it with me to the bathroom !

So the story goes , I handled one about two months back and wasnt overly impressed with it , then I got the bug for a new knife so I went to Wallymart and handled it again and bought it.

It wasnt until I got in my truck and started working it that I realized how utterly cool it is as an EDC.

That night I got home from work and played with it for a while then realized all that bead blast was masking it's true beauty so I took it apart and polished the entire knife , got most of the mill marks off and dont really care about the rest of them , sort of adds character to it but it does look much nicer polished to about 600 grit.
I also ran some 1500 over the G10 so it's not crazy grippy which is bad on the 'ol jeans. Shortened the pocket clip and rebent it so it will clip on well still. I'm in process of adding jimping to the blade , which I think is needed.

It is a very fluid knife , rock solid to boot ! I think it is one of the best values in the knife world right now , I highly recommend one if you are looking for a sweet new flipper EDC. It has the heft and feel of much more expensive knife.

Definatly a winner Kershaw ! Great job :) Kershaw is now my official favorite knife company , oh and did I mention it was made in America and well under $50 ?

Anyone else own one of these fine blades ?

How do you like yours as compared to another favorite knife ?

Sorry for the horrid pics , hopefully you can see the mods.

Thanks ! Tostig :)

Beautiful knife. Flipper without A/O and framelock. I think I am going to get me one of those later. That probably will be Kershaw # 6 for me.

i have wanted o polish all my kershaw bead blast knives. i hate the finish, but love the blades.

can you get better pics of the polished blade?

I should have added , my primary reasons for polishing the handle and blade were because I am sick of bead blast finishes , wanted to avoid those pesky rust spots to boot ! :)

Sorry , I'm at work and my Crackberry takes awful pics , the process for polishing the blade was to use Wenol ( a Flitz like polish ) and steel wool , so as not to erase any logos ,etc... of course I had to resharpen it after but it was an easy job.

That is a nice knife but I always seem to end up selling my Kershaws, I just sold my JYD2Cb the other day to a friend and before that about a year ago I sold my Avalanche to him, they are great designs but I always seem to sell them for some reason. I might have to get this knife and see how long it lasts.

What's that circular thing by the lock bar? It looks like a Hinderer lock bar stabilizer.

The only thing I don't like about the OD-1 is the clip and how it sets in your pocket. I really like a low ride pocket clip and I'm really bothered if there is too much handle sticking out of the pocket. I thought of having a lowrider made for it but the holes are too close together.

I handled one with a lowrider clip. He put the screws in from the back of the scale. Worked fine.

Well I thought the same regarding the tip up carry , and I'm not one to worry about too much knife showing but I decided to carry tip down , so far it's working great and bear in mind I'm a lefty ! :D

I remember STR working on that. It seems like a lot of trouble. I think I'll hold out until Blademaker gets his grip clips for the ZT line in production and see how that works out.

I was pretty close to buying an OD-1 but the Zing also somewhat appeals to me. It is just different looking but looks very functional. I think some wood on an OD-1 would looks great. I know someone(think username was something with fire) does some Kershaws in wood scales.

If you want custom scales, look no further than this guy!

Yes. Phillip's old handle here was "firebert" That is who you are thinking of I believe.
Top notch in my book.

I bought the standard Wally World OD-1 not to long ago, and was pretty underwhelmed with the fit and finish. The blade was offcenter, it had a very weak detent, and the lockbar could be easily pushed to the far side. I ended up returning it. A couple weeks ago a fellow forumite told me about the limited orange G10 OD-1, so I ordered one while they were still available. Well it arrived early last week and has been in my pocket since. The knife is perfect, the stonewashed blade...yes stonewashed blade:D was perfectly centered, the detent while still somewhat weak is noticeably stiffer than my first OD-1, and lockup is perfect. I'm very happy with this knife, and while I would like a low rider clip, it isn't a deal breaker. All in all this is probably the best $50 I've spent in a long time..now I need another RAM!
