Kershaw RAM thoughts?

The RAM is a great slicer too, ergonomics are great too. The size is a very good size to for edc. The clips on them are a little tight though.

The R.A.M. has been a great user for me. I never worry about it for any reason. Very reliable folder.
I still need to update my photos though. It is now polished with the Amboyna scales.

Where did you get those scales from? Those look really sweet...

I bought one of these today, should have it in a few days. Cool scales above on this page. I've read a lot of good things about this blade, so I'm looking forward to playing around with it. I've been on an absolute Kershaw tear lately. :p

I may have got my crack from the wrong guy but when i handled a ram at my local shop i was not impressed at all. The flipper sucked (needs to stick out more, my fingers kept slipping off of it) and the funky thumb stud threesome.........why? Granted, it looks good but the flipper did not work at all for me and in my very humble opinion kershaw should replace the three thumb studs with one like the blur. I have a feeling ill be excommunicated from the kershaw sub forum for saying this :o, but hey, at least my opinion doesnt carry any weight.

Not really^^ I don't know whats up with everyone feeling like they have to agree, lets agree to disagree about agreeing...yes...Ok!

I bet you just needed a little more time with it. It doesnt take much force to deploy from the flipper. I thought I read somewhere that the thumbstuds were more for show and easier to deploy with gloves on or something? Either way it is meant to be primarily a flipper. I can also hold the lock and deploy it quite quickly with wrist action when dicking around.

KershawGuy shipped mine on a laser beam.
Eugene, OR. to Toledo, OH. in 48 hours.

Very disappointed for the first 5 minutes after unboxing.

After I figured out the flipper, this is one sweet little knife. Definitely a keeper.

The flipper does have different geometry than other flippers, but once you figure it out it really is one of the best. It is actually hard to hit it and not get a full deployment. I use the three studs to open it slowly with my thumb or use the three studs to flick it out with my middle finger.

I just received a RAM. Is there any way to know whether I got a 13C26 or 14C28N version? There is no date code or other markings to indicate the type of steel. Also, there was talk of Kershaw modifying the lock release to have a sort of ramp on later versions. Did this really happen?

Thanks,

Kyle

I think if it is not marked anything it is 14c28n, and no they did not. I filed 3 grooves in mine to help with traction. I also have the 3 studs to the lock side to give me more to grip when using the studs.
