I'm glad you gents are put off by it. I have a better chance now!

All the info, pictures, and videos I have seen along with holding one was all I needed to know it's a great knife and I'll be trying my damnedest to pick one up.

Congrats Kershaw for 40 good years.

A big old plus one on this! I'm a huge Kershaw fan, and if I am lucky enough to score one, I will be very happy to add it to my collection.

Overreact much? Since you mentioned it though a definition of clueless would be those who couldn't make a serious profit on that knife at $250.

Call kettles black much?

I've seen these knives being manufactured, and maybe you are a genius production line engineer, but looking at the premium materials (ZDP, try getting a quantity of that), the steps involved in making components, getting parts DLC coated (yes actual DLC, not Skeltonized PVD), parts anodized, and all the hand work, it is difficult to imagine there would be much, if any profit at $250.00 without cutting a hell of a lot of corners (which I know they didn't). I would assume (and hope) that they are making a profit at $400 and I certainly would not begrudge them that. Certainly better than selling them at a loss or breaking even when selling to dealers.

Since you may possibly be an expert on the subject (you seem to be representing yourself that way), perhaps you could give us a breakdown of costs of materials, processes and labor so that we will have a clearer picture of how Kai is grossly inflating the price?

You must be related to that rep that used to moderate a forum here who automatically assumed the he was under attack by any post that wasn't a fanboy attaboy every step of the way. My post was not intended to belittle your favorite company but was meant to point out that charging the price the scalpers would charge makes sense from a profit standpoint. This goes for the small specialty runs made available by Kai and other manufacturers that are grabbed up and resold at a profit. Why not charge the end owner's price from the beginning.
I've held high level technical/customer service positions in two manufacturing industries neither of which involved knives but did require extensive machining and expensive materials. I know and don't begrudge that profit is a necessary factor for any manufacturer. My "well played" was meant as a compliment.

If this dissertation doesn't assuage your sense of indignation you'll just have to deal with it.

All these big words...please dumb it down for me and the rest of the BF crowd. Big words don't make you sound better!

We can discuss the actual topic of the knife, or we can try to prove how clever we are by posting insinuation, speculation, veiled insults and discussing each other.

Some of you may have to learn the hard way...by infraction. Morrow asked you all nicely...Twice.....

This discussion is now over.
