Kershaw Speedsafe illegal in CA ?

No lawyer here. Just a consultant to the courts in the fields of knife design, construction and law.

I can't comment on police terminals, but why not just bookmark the appropriate laws on your web enable phone?

Or it seems that if there was a question they (the police) could just call back to the house and have someone look it up.

Most departments and offices require you to carry a referance guide to the penal codes. These feature a "cliff notes" version of the most common laws. You can also contact your watch commander or field commander for additional information.

Problem is that all too often officers "think" they know what a law says and don't bother to look.

Don't take it personally. I think the truth is that internet forums in general turn into free for alls to bash whatever happens to be handy. The really good ones seem to be able to rise above that and continue with reasoned discussion. Bladeforums falls in that space most of the time, thanks to folks like you and RW Clark and some of the others here.

thx. it is not that i take it personally, necessarily. most of those end up on ignore anyway.

i just find it odd that so many feel it necessary to whine about it.

Choosing to demonize an inanimate object, instead of persecuting the criminals whose behavior is the source of the issue, is cowardice as well the height of moral and intellectual bankruptcy.
Where did that come from?

Can I use it?

That quote came from me actually.

It is what I once told a Judge in Illinois when he asked me how I felt about laws banning certain knives and weapons.

Feel free to use it.

His response was to set state precedence and rule for the first time that AOs are legal in the state of IL. :D

Very good thread with a lot of information. I am glad to see that it was not derailed by a troll.
