Kershaw subforum missing from Bladeforums??

Thanks for the heads up. Any idea why it happened? I really appreciate the replies from ThomasW on questions raised and the sprint runs that was generated from the interactions of this forum.

All the old threads are in the archives, just can not post to them. You can still search for the topics or reread some threads.

No reason given. Just closed at the request of Kershaw for unknown reasons (not business or economy related.).

Is it just me or was that an odd request from Kershaw? Not bashing or anything like that, just wondering why a manufacture would request to close a public forum. I think if the Spyderco forum closed here I'd be very sad.

from thomas:

As to the reasons why, the shut down had nothing to do with our current business, nor for legal reasons, so let's just put that to rest right now.

We just had a hurdle that we couldn't get over with BF's. Kevin and I spoke about it, and I felt it best to back away at this time.

It is an unfortunate situation, I agree, and we as an organization feel badly that we won't be speaking directly with you on a daily basis.

Whether we come back together in the future...I guess it's possible, we'll have to see how it goes.

A hurdle? I don't understand.

I think he meant "curdle". It involved a tub of cottage cheese and some small farm animals, I do believe.

Hey, if no one's going to come forth with more information we can just make up our own stories!

I can't imagine why Kershaw would have a problem with Bladeforums hosting their forum. The only thing Spark and company have been restrictive about is deleting post and the like. Spark has always seemed quite gracious to the company officials.

EDIT: Hmm, it sounded like I was trying to imply something. I was/am not. Just speculating. :-(

Yes, odd and unfortunate because I buy 90+% of my knives after learning more about them on BF.

Perhaps they want to get their own. I know Spyderco and Benchmade have their own on their website. Even SOG has a blog and just a couple of days ago Cold Steel launched their own.

Perhaps. But other knife companies have been known to operate multiple sites. Busse Combat is a good example of that.

No reason why their site can`t co-exist with others....why NOT maintain good rapport with the community that`s supported you and helped you grow ?....

Many reasons that it could have been shut down, doubt anyone but Spark and Thomas will ever know. And as far as I am concerned, that is good enough for me.
