Kershaw subforum missing from Bladeforums??

It's a financial isssue between BF & Kershaw. IMO. or
Kershaw did not want a forum that would trash their upcomming line up for 2009. IMO
But that's a long shot. They probably have a killer product line for 09. Just a thought.
or
After Kershaw did not renew Ken Onion's contract. (Ken's words not mine) he (KO) put the Kibash on Kershaw. I think we all know what the Kibash from a power broker like KO can do. But that's just my opinion, spectulation and a some rumors that may or may not be true. I'm mean, I just saying, Ya know?

It is a huge loss for me personally and for all of Blade Forums.
That's a fact. :(
Every guess in this post is wrong.

BladeForums.com has never asked for a single dollar from Kershaw, and Kershaw has never provided any monetary contribution to BladeForums.com. Thomas, out of generosity, has provided some product which will be used for giveaways at a later date; but it was neither asked for, nor required. Kershaw has no financial obligation to this site, any obligation at all for that matter.

I personally (and AFAIK the moderators as well) have never made a single disparaging remark about Kershaw knives. Personally I feel that Kershaw is doing fantastic work and their designs, materials & construction are top notch. This has nothing to do with Ken Onion, who I respect greatly, but has never contacted me regarding his contract or Kershaw's involvement here or anything to do with this forum closing.

Past that, from our point of view, we have not changed our methods of operation with regards to Kershaw. Or for that matter, anyone else. Our policies are the same as they were before Kershaw started their forum here. We've remained consistent.

The "hurdle" faced is between Thomas and myself - that's it. Sometimes business is a priority over how we feel personally, so when he requested the forum be closed, I honored his request and totally understand where he's coming from. Again, I have no problem with Kershaw; and honestly I was not surprised to see this come up... as it was bound to eventually.

I've gotten private messages from other individuals about this issue, some of whom have been apparently given a partial story as to what brought this up. I do not have the full picture as to what other people have been told, nor do I care. All I am willing to say in this regard, at this time, is that I, & by extension BladeForums.com, will continue to do what I consider is right, fair, and honest.

I am not sure what else needs to be discussed here.

I don't understand why anyone thinks the reason behind the Kershaw forum closing needs to be stated. The business dealings behind the scenes really isn't any of our concern. Sure I'm curious like everyone else but it isn't going to change anything to know "the reason."

The speculating wouldn't stop even if a reason was given. It would continue on as people speculated on the reasons behind the reason.

I'm agitated the Kershaw forum closed....it was one of the main reasons I come here. Should a Kershaw forum open somewhere else, I'll be there. I'll be here as well.

Well usually the business dealings behind the scenes are not our business until they become public like they do on this forum. This is the Internet, you cannot stop it. Once you choose to participate in anything on the Internet you put yourself out there and more information becomes available to other people unfortunately.

...I don't expect everyone to like or care for my style, and can't control peeps feelings, but personally speaking David, I find your words about my posting style a bit ironic considering your past on the forums.....

That was the past. You helped me, and I helped you. I'm speaking of the present. I think I have proven myself after 3600 posts and 3 years over at the Spyderco forums and additionally over the last year here and 500 posts.

All I was saying is that when someone comes on the Spyderco forum and trashes something Sal addresses it with honey......and treats them well even though they are crapping on him. Sometimes you just tend to get very defensive and fired up and sort of treat the person with salt instead of honey. You know that I personally have learned this the hard way. We can all learn from each other.

I have had to learn that on the Internet people say all kinds of stuff. I cannot tell you how many times I have began to reply to a post.......and then just said to myself "....it's just not even worth it" and then moved on to reading another thread.

You're a great guy Thomas. I like you. I just was making some observations. I still like you and I will still buy Kershaw products. In the end like others have said, they are knives and in the grand scheme of things they don't matter that much.

I would never wish anything but well for a person (unless the person is a rapest/murder etc...) and certainly don't wish you anything but well.

To show my support....I'll go buy another Kershaw today. Hmmm....I'm thinking a Blue Blur.

Cheers :)

Edited to say that I was typing all this before Spark posted his last post. So, I didn't want to add to anymore if you want this shut down Spark. When I hit "Submit" I then saw that Spark had posted. Sorry if this is an issue.

Where have the "behind the scenes" details been made public in regards to the Kershaw forum closing? Your statements really don't change the fact that the details behind the Kershaw forum closing is none of our business. Wanting to know really really bad doesn't change this.

Thomas, are you going to be around anymore at all?
I think it would be hypocritical for me to continue to post after closing down the sub-forum, so no.

I thought it would be best to hang around a little while until all the questions died down about sub-forum closing down.

Regardless, it's good to hear from you.

Vaya con dios. Hope to see you somewhere out there on the wide open range.

Thomas, not that it matters now, but I just wanted to note that every Kershaw purchase I've ever made was the direct result of the subforum.

Sorry that things didn't work out, but best of luck in the future. I'll keep an eye for new products from time to time.
