Kershaw to Offer Re-Blading for $10! ZT for $30!

I'm wondering if this coverage is applicable to discontinued models.

I have inquired before about general warranty blade replacement, like my ZDP-189 Blur and SG2 Blur. Many of those models they do not have replacement blades for.

It seems pretty straight forward to me, if a knife is long discontinued or is part of a LE run, then you can safely assume that there few to no parts available. Luckily, we will have the options for the current production models. ;)

Like a hipster, I've been on this before it was official. :D They replaced the blade on my 0550 last year, and everytime I've asked they've been cordial and willing to replace broken blades. Good on them for putting this out there.

That's fantastic! Take that Benchmade. hehehe...

Funny, looking through what I have, maybe only a Leek and a Cryo would qualify. The rest are either limited editions (damascus), seconds, or discontinued. I guess this is the push I need to remedy that. :)

They don't have any TILT parts..

Ahhh darn, already snapped it in half trying to cut a bowling ball in half....

I'm just playing Chester haha. My tilts been in my pelican case since I got it, would love a user tilt but can't afford to do that at the moment.

That is an awesome offer.

So, I'm guessing that this only applies to standard models..............not to ZDP-189 or s110V blades?

I do need to get a new blade for my s30v Leek, though, and $10 is about as awesome of a price as you'll ever find.

Good I am glad this in effect, time to get a ZT 561 again or two.
This blade replacement policy has been a large factor into why I haven't invested heavily on ZT.

Well I'd assume so for those exotic le's. But what about for a cyclone, or something like that? I'd assume not, for that too.

I wonder how many of us are out there thinking if its possible to pry a car door open or something. I'm sure those that have destroyed their knives in the past and still holding onto the remains will be happy. If you break the tip off a Leek or something, $10 is not a bad price to pay at all.

So, you haven't heavily invested in ZT because they wouldn't replace the blade because you snapped it off? As far as I know, no other company offers this, so your collection must be pretty limited. What causes you to snap your ZT blades off?

I wonder if the replacement blades will be marked or sterile.

You should research a bit.
I've gotten a few blades replaced, and it wasn't just from snapping off but various reasons. (heat aided etching, accident with a grinder, dropped blade, snapped off tip from testing, preparing for sale and a few others).

Here's a few I've used Benchmade/Bradley Cutlery (multiple times, they're the same), CRK (multiple), Buck (twice), EESE (twice used, break it replace it policy for their fixed blades). Most expensive one was CRK@ $135 iirc. Usually though they range from $20-$40~
Also few more I havent mentioned because I don't feel right, they don't advertise it and made "exceptions".

Don't flame me please, but this sounds like they don't want to replace blades for free anymore? I have no kershaws, I want a few. To me, normal use may result in damaging the blade. Before they just replaced the blade, now they may say sure no problem, and please include 10 bucks?

I haven't heard of them replacing blades from normal use for free unless it was a defect

Well, I assure you that a ZT won't arrive in your possession with any of the problems that you listed. If you do, which you shouldn't, than you got a lemon. $10 and $30 isn't much to pay for an "expensive" knife (expensive depends on your meaning of it).

Those aren't defects those are things that have happened to my knives while using them.
The whole policy isn't for wear and tear or defects, the whole blade swap policy is more for like "when stuff happens".

Sounds like "when stuff happens" will be happening to you quite a bit based off the things you do to your blades.
