Hey Kershaw Fans, I have come across some real good deals on a couple of different Vintage Kershaw Knives , both from the early Nineties. I have several of each and would like to give some away. I thought it would be fun to do Kershaw Trivia contests. I have been collecting Kershaw knives for over 27 years and have learned some things that some may not be aware of , and I am sure you know some stuff I don't know as well . This could be a fun way to raise awareness of our favorite knife companies history and you could win a knife from the past in the process and at some point , I may give newer ones too. First let me say that I am not affiliated with Kershaw in any way other than I am a loyal fan, customer, and believer in this company , it's products and the people that make it what it is. With that said , I will post the first question tomorrow after work at aprox. 4pm PST. the first person to post the correct answer will win the knife. The only rules are , don't call and bother our friends at Kershaw for the answers, they are busy making our knives. second, if you win a knife , please wait 60 days before winning another. It's great to see a Kershaw Forum, thanks to all that made it happen.

Great idea kershawguy! One more thing to look forward to in this great new forum.

27 years of trivia, sounds like this'll be a real challenge.

Ok guys here is the first question , it is a two part question and we might as well start at the beginning. Kershaw knives was started in 1974 , in Portland , Oregon .

1- who started it , first and last name.
2- where did he work prior to starting Kershaw.

First person to answer correctly wins knife, ready set GOOOO !

WOW, I'm gald you didn't ask what the model number was!!! That one I couldn't come up with.

I only knew his name because I bought a Leek TIZDP last week to go along with my other standard Leek and became interested in the companies history. I actually had read the answers I gave Monday while reseaching the company.:D

Thanks for the opportunity kershawguy, this just shows how great this forum is going to be.:)

You sir are a kind and generous fellow and if I can help you in the future, let me know.

I will send you my info shortly.

Thanks again.

You are welcome thanks for playing, my wife actually said the model numbers were too hard of a question to ask , so you can thank her for that. Pete designed for Gerber the PK-1, PK-2 and PK-3. PK being of course , his initials. I am sure he did others as well, these are the ones I am aware of. Kershaw actually was based in Lake Oswego , a suburb of Portland, then moved to Willsonville, and of course now they are in Tualatin , all very close to Portland. I think this will be fun, I will try to do one almost every week for a while.

Here are a couple of photos of the knife CARman won and I will be giving a few more of them, they were from 1992.

Wow, that is a cool knife Thomas. This is a great way to start off the new forums. :D

Good luck to the next trivia winner as well.

Thanks again to kershawguy for making this possible. :)

Congrats CARman! A winner in six minutes!

kershawguy, if they all go that quick, I'm not sure even you will have enough knives!

Didn't even see the question 'til just now. Work is really getting in the way of my time on the forums, gotta do something about that.

Next trivia question will be posted on Saturday instead of Friday, I have an emergency sturgeon fishing trip on Friday. I will post an hour or so before the question to give everyone a fair chance. Keep on thinkin Kershaw.

Dave

kershawguy, I received the Kershaw Honker today. Beautiful little knife. :)

Thanks again for your generosity and contribution to this forum.

Good luck to everyone on the next trivia question.

I will be posting today's trivia question at around 6PM Pacific time - 9 eastern. This will be for another Minted Honker Knife, pictured in an earlier post in this thread.

Dave

Ok, here it is , two part question. Around 1979 Kershaw started making a knife that they still make today. It has always been serial numbered and is over 30,000 to date.

1-- name the knife and model #
2-- Tell me one major change that was made to the blade within the first couple of years .
