Kershaw Trivia , Knife Giveaway

Man oh man, I wish my 60 days was already up. I know the answer to this one as well I'm pretty sure.

Good luck to everyone !!!

My guess:

1. Kershaw Trooper/Model No. 1007
2. The handle material changed from hardwood to phenolic?

Thanks.

1. Kershaw Trooper - Model 1007

2. Blood groove was added to the blade

Well done, you are the winner. The trooper is an awesome dagger style knife and as 70chevelless said the blood groove was added sometime late in 1980. Also Erhard Gross was commissioned by Kershaw to do carved Ivory handles around 1986 and he did a limited run of several different animals including an Eagle, Grizzly bear, Bighorn sheep, and polar bear. These troopers had an MSRP of up to $1750.00 and still surface from time to time. Mr. Gross resides in Astoria, Oregon , where He and his wife run a Bed and breakfast with an awesome view of the Columbia river. Troopers are still sold today , much the same as when they started, in a nice metal presentation case with a card stating the production date and serial number. Congrats on your win. Send me an email with your addy , and I will mail out your knife. CARman also knew the answer, but he won the first trivia question. Thanks for playing.

Well done, you are the winner.

This is great!!!!!!!!!! :)

I had actually fogotten all about the trivia question happening Saturday night. I just happened to be lurking in the forum when I saw the thread for it. Then I was surprised to see that no one had given an answer for over 2 1/2 hours!

I knew the first part of the question right away as I have one of these knives myself and it was made in 1979 (the first year these were made). It's buried someplace but if I can find it, I'll post some pics here of it.

The second part of the question I found out by Googling it and was surprised to find the answer in the second link after my search, at Cutler's Cove.

Thank you for doing this Dave (kershawguy) :) , this is a really cool idea to get this Kershaw forum going.

Also, thanks to "Spark" for getting this forum going and to "Thomas W" and "Tim Galyean" for moderating this forum. Although Thomas seems to have an issue with my car, ----something about "Mo-Par"???  :D

This was a forum that needed to be done with all the great knives being produced by Kershaw.

Thanks to all who were involved (in case I missed somebody)!!!!

I had a friend in high school that got a brand new 70 chevelle , I think it was red and white and had cowl induction, it was an awesome car  . My first, second, and third cars were all 57 chevies , I never knew anyone with a Mo-Par :thumbdn: I still think Thomas is a pretty good guy, even if his taste in cars is somewhat questionable ! I will get your knife in the mail Tuesday.

I will be posting this weeks trivia question Today as close to 6PM Pacific time as I can.

Kershaw knives were made in at least 5 countries,(that i'm aware of), USA, Japan, Germany, China. Name the fifth country and the name of the series of three knives that were made there. This weeks knife will be a nice lockback folder also made in 1992 with rosewood handles and brass bolsters ( model #2605) Good luck.

ok, im going to say Taiwan. Liner Lock series, Lever Action series, as for the third i have no idea, but will guess talon. i am prolly not right but why not guess? could be right.

sorry guys, think vintage 1991 let's say. The only Kershaw product that I am aware of that is produced in Taiwan is the camp Ax, I could however be wrong, LOL. At any rate , Taiwan isn't the answer I am looking for, a little harder this time.

I'll try Italy and the name of the series was Maniago.

Congratulations Kneedeep you are correct, the Maniago series were to the best of my knowledge , the only three knives made for Kershaw in Italy. They were retailed around 1991 , they are very solid and heavy knives, they came in a padded presentation case (photo below) and each had a nylon cordura sheath. They also sold individually , mod# 1305-$50, 1310-$60 and 1320-$70. Again congrats, send me your addy and I'll mail you your knife. steelhead15@juno.com

Congrats on your win kneedeep.:D

kershaw guy, just for informational purposes I found the following info on a website I was researching. It is a liability disclamer for Kershaw. It says that there is one more country that made knives for kershaw and this is the one I thought you were referring to.

"Kershaw products are made in the USA, Japan Taiwan, Mexico, Sweden, and China as indicated on the product."

I'll post the link, but I dont't know if it will work. It is at the bottom of the page.
