KERSHAW TYRADE G-10 vs SPYDERCO MANIX M2

I have seen the latest TYRADE with the orange G-10 handle, it doesn't seem to be too bad.
I was wondering if it's worth buying it over the SPYDERCO M2 . Both knives using 154CM steel blade, though the TYRADE has a D2 cutting edge. Price is quite similar also, made in US both too.

My Orange G-10 Tyrade spent the last week with me in the Canadian bush. If you want a sturdy AO folder, then this is a good choice.

The new Manix is a great knife, but with overall value in mind keep your eye on the G-10 Tyrade. For the price it is a WHOLE LOTTA KNIFE!! Feels good in the hand, excellent cutting power, and the recurve isn't too extreme so sharpening is still fairly easy. The new tan models just recently hit the streets as well if you don't care for orange. A really nice folder IMO.

If you like AO, Tyrade. If you want the stronger lock, Manix 2. If you want exotic steel (composite blade with a CPM D-2 edge) and better slicing ability, Tyrade. If you want a stronger blade that'll stand up to more hard use, Manix 2. It all comes down to what you want out of the knife. Good luck!:)

I'm generally a Spydie guy, but:

1. The Tyrade has the superior steel (imo)
2. The Tyrade has the better grind (imo)

Two important points for me pertaining to cutting ability. Aside from that, I like the overall design of the Manix 2 better, and I think it is a tougher knife.

I own neither, by the way.

The Manix 2 blade has a really thick, low saber-grind and is one piece of steel, as opposed to two pieces welded together.;)

I have both and I would say that the Tyrade has a stronger blade. It is ticker and carries more of that thickness into the tip.

For the OP these knives both have great ergo's. The Tyrade carries larger and has a bigger blade. The Manix has a smoother action and better closing detent.

I would buy the Tyrade now and the Manix later if that is an option.

I have other Spydercos but I don't have a Manix. I do have an Orange Tyrade and I love it. Great ergonomics, cool colors of G10, good steel and grind and IMO the lock is excellent. Mine goes everywhere...

Why choose the Kershaw Tyrade over the Kershaw JYDll?

Both use the same blend of blade metals, both are tempered to the same hardness, both use the same lock-up, both have same blade size, and the JYDll costs about $20.00 less.

Is it apparance only that decides the matter?

Thank you,

Richard

The Tyrade is assisted opener, isn't the JYDII a manual action?

Also speaking for myself the ergos and looks of the Tyrade are better than the JYDII.

Tyrade is 154CM/CPM-D2, JYDIICB is 13C26/CPM-D2.
Tyrade is A/O, JYDII is a flipper.

**edit** BNB had me beat on the A/O vs Flipper.

I have both the Tyrade and the JYDII (composite blade). I like them both but I prefer the blade shape on the Tyrade. Plus the Speedsafe AO is just cool IMO.

Just got a Para-Mil and seriously eyeballed a Manix 2. Will add one eventually.

My son "having to be different than Pops" really wants the orange Tyrade.

Looks like a decent knife...

Man these two knives IMO are as close to a tie as you’ll gonna find. They are both incredible value for money, they are both tanks. For me it would be the M2 by a hair.
