Interesting thing about the Thermite is that I really like it and bought it as a beater and knife I wouldn't cry over if I lost it. I was kinda surprised about how the lock bar bent in the first place to be honest but, have to say, the edge didn't chip, roll or distort in the least.

Funny how personal knives can be to us - I get more aggravated and spent more time dealing with a knife that cost less than a burger and a couple beers at my favorite watering hole than I do with real problems.

Hey Salty , that is the way the locker looks and was made on all of them, that being said I doubt they would have wasted any time on a china made knife repairing it, they most likely tossed it and send another. Now I have noticed some dirt and grit on knives from china, not sure there is a remedy for that, things from China seem dusty to me. Even though the lock bar is made that way it should still have solid lockup and I have checked several new ones since I read your post and they are all solid. So if the replacement they sent has a solid lockup, it is as it should be. Please don't let a china made knife deter you from buying one of the nicest ZT's ever, the 0450 is a great knife. I will hand pick one for you if you want to try one. I can also send you photos of a few new lockers for you to verify the design.

You are a class act and this is a very good example of why I'll always be a customer.

As far as the rest of it goes, to the OP: I'm not a "fan boy" but I am a fan of ZT. I have a good number of their knives in my collection and think they are the best mass production knives made today for the money. Not to say they are perfect and don't make mistakes like any other company. It just irks me when people start flaming without good cause just as much as when they heap praise for something that should be expected service.

In this case it sounds to me like you are the one who is being a little quick with the condemnation. You said yourself they sent you a label so you could ship it back on their dime the second time with a promise to make it right. Shouldn't you wait to see what happens before flaming them? And all this on a cheap ass $35 knife? You're not going to get back a Sebenza. It's still going to be a cheap ass $35 knife. . .
