Kershaw/ZT Picture Thread!!! Let's See Em'!

0308 owners, do your 0308s have any blade play when the knife is closed?

I recently picked one up and while the knife is closed the blade has some movement.

I then looked at the detent hole on the blade and it’s huge - no wonder.

Just curious. It’s the first ZT I’ve owned like this, and I own a ton. I’ve seen this in other knives, but not ZTs.

Given the large diameter of the detent hole, it’s obviously intentional in the design tolerances.

Makes me wonder if they had trouble capturing that big, heavy blade with a smaller detent hole. Bounce-back on drop-shuts n what not.

I had a big dog Hinderer XM-24 that had the same thing - huge detent hole and blade play when closed.
I know what you mean, it's called pivot lash and is quite annoying haha. I just checked my 308 and it's snug and doesn't have any. However as I was reading your post I was playing with my Skyline which has bad pivot lash and I was trying to think of a solution. I don't know why they made the detent hole so large, it makes it sloppy unless the stop pin hits the blade tang just right stopping it in the right place, however many aren't quite that perfectly precise. My Skyline is so bad that the edge hits the backspacer. I actually sanded down the inside of the backspacer to reduce that a lot. You'd have to have a slightly larger diameter stop pin to fix the pivot lash in your case. Honestly I'd return it if you can so you don't have to worry about that.

People tend to not fully appreciate how great the ZT0452 is, maybe because the knife is still in production (not the ti one of course). It is long, slim, and ergonomic such that very few production folders are like it. A few months ago I was thinking about getting some long and slim Russian made ti framlock folders until one day I pulled out my ZT0452CF that I have not fondled for quite some time. I said to myself: heck why I'd spend 3X $$ on a folder that is very similar to this one? Soon after that I picked up two more 0452s from the Exchange here: a 0452TI and a 0452G10 Gold. These are unplanned purchases of 2023 (well you could never plan when it comes to knife purchases) but I'm very happy with them.

Sounds like they went to a good home 😉, Glad you are happy with them! One of my favorite all time knives. The 0452CF was actually my 1st ZT and my first expensive knife. Smooth as butter 😍

I just wish the 0452 blade was a tad bit shorter…in the 3.5-3.75” range. The 4.1” blade is a little long for my personal liking.

You don’t see too many of these around.

0900BLU

I gave it to my son when he received his Eagle Scout. He’s been using it and it needed a fresh edge (3 micron). Good on him for putting it to work!

I stayed close to the factory grind, 24°.
