Kershaw's Tyrade in orange G-10 are here...

I ordered one along with a junkyard dog 2 and a cold steel SRK, they came today but haven't opened the package yet. Waiting for the wife to go to bed!

I have had my Orange g10 Tyrade for a week now. The handle is extremely comfortable for my small hands, it fills the palm nicely, I could use it for a whole work day with no issues. There is a lanyard hole though I don't need it. The blade is beefy, sharp, and a good length, there is plenty of sweep in the blade to give you a lot of cutting area. It's a great knife, if you have $250, buy the set of 3, or for $80 pick up an orange or tan one, they are lower production runs than the black, and they are just cooler. :D

What's the blade finish on the orange model? Bead Blasted, or Stone Washed?

Edit: Some of the pics make 'em look like the Orange handled model is BBed while the Black is StoneWashed... is this right?

I got the black G-10 with stonewash blade on Monday and here are my initial observations:
Smooth as silk opening/closing
Built like a brick, you know what, house
Heavy, but in a solid, comforting way
Fairly quick AO, hard snap on lock up
Very assuring engagement, beefy
Thick liners with some skeletonizing to lighten it up
Great edge and blade profile, thick blade stock
Wish it had some thumb ramp jimping

-I may switch it to tip up but now i'm leary as one poster stated they thought the holes weren't tapped right. I looked with an LED light and magnifying glass, they definitely are threaded, i'll take my time. All in all it's a great package and a real deal. Mine has minor imperfections (liner finished a little wavy in one spot, G-10 spacer not perfectly flush with liners) as one other poster mentioned but I think at this price I can overlook them.

I mounted my clip for tip up and had no real problems. The screw started off like it was binding, but slow and steady paid off as it went in fine and tightened up just like was when mounted tip down. My suggestion is to go go slowly with it.

gah im going to have to order one now that looks awesome, birthday present to myself. where did you get yours

I flipped the clip and took a few shots for those who are curious.

I probably shouldnt have said anything, because there isnt really anything wrong with the knife. (pretty sure that I was the problem...)

After scavenging some new screws from a different Kershaw, I was able to switch to tip-up without issue.

I cannot be sure, but I think that the screws may have been slightly disformed initially, and when I went to switch them over to tip-up, I got it slightly cross threaded.

I dunno. What I do know is that when I had this thing apart everything about it says it truly is a TANK.

Kershaw has some new clip screws on the way, and I have another orange Tyrade in the mail from Knifeworks. That means that there is only 148 left for the rest of you. Better get them quick!

These are awesome looking knives, can't wait for mine to show up, I got an orange zing with it and got free shipping. Nice photos , Thanks !!!

i'm very happy with the black and the orange g10! :D

cheers! kimo

They look good kimo! Btw, is the orange blade stonewashed or bead blasted. The blue Tyrade thread listed all the current and future models, but I was thinking that the first orange and tans would be bead blasted? Not that it will make one iota of difference as I will take them sw or bb!

i'm not sure. the black g10's blade seems a bit darker then the orange one. on the knifeworks website, the beadblasted orange and black aren't supposed to be in until early june.

as far as i'm concerned, they both look great to me. heck, at $80 i'm tempted to order 2 bb orange + black ones!

that a way, the wifey will really be pissed!:D

cheers! kimo

ps- time to drink!!!

Looks like SUCH an awesome knife... I dread the recurve, though. Maybe if I get it, I'll remove it when I get good with the belt sander.
