I just got the Kevin John Daboia in yesterday after a month long wait. I am amazed at the quality of this knife! It is easily one of the best looking knives that I own now as well! The tritium vials look great and the overall form of the knife is gorgeous. It is extremely smooth and flies out when actuated and drops back into the handle under its own weight. I took it apart, cleaned and lubed it and put it back together and it was still perfectly centered!

The one thing that is throwing me off, and I am hoping that others can chime in that might own one, is that the detent paired with the small flipper tab kind of makes the knife painful to flip. I have to focus on lightswitching it just right so the point of the tab doesn't dig into my finger.

Other than that, the fit and finish, machining and everything are top notch! The knife is larger than I thought it would be and that is a plus. A great addition to my collection!

I know KJ makes great knives, and the Venom 2 looks like a great blade. I have seen this knife on a certain Chinese website and contemplated on getting it. What's really holding me back is the aesthetic itself. It seems to be a really busy design. I'm sure it is an amazing knife in hand. Thanks for the impression.

Kevin John brand makes probably more fakes than any other brand out there. They even lie and use the "Idaho Made" stamp on their fake Sebenzas.

He's something I just picked up on Aliexpress. It's a title for a fake Chinese made Microtech, of course. :D

"Kevin John Copying Knives MicroTeach..Don't blame if you don't like.."

Yet one has to ask why they mark the blade in such a way if deception was really the focus.

Yet one has to ask why they mark the handle in such a way if deception wasn't really the focus. Anybody who marks a china made knife "IDAHO MADE" is scum in my book. Feel free to use the rest of this thread to justify your awsum china knives.

I guess the obvious has a way of escaping many..Either way..I like these threads..My ignore list is growing exponentially :)

Whether it is Microtech or some Chinese company - it ain't cool.

But a company trying to get away from copies and making something nice out of learning to make a high quality knife, that's progress in the right direction.

Except that the seed money came from bad practices. This is basically bank robbers going into banking.

In doing my research, it appears Kevin John and Custom Knife Factory are one and the same...and that this is a model previously offered by CKF called the Daboia, is called the Venom 2 by KJ. Trying to get both hands in the pie.

Interesting.
