Kevin Wilkins

Thanks guys! The support I have received is very heartwarming and I appreciate it more than I can express.

One thing I have enjoyed about the "world knife community" over the years is that despite a very wide range of religious, political and cultural differences many of us are bound together by the high value we place on personal integrity.

It may very well be that some of the problems in my transaction with Moonlight were caused by language difficulties. If so I very much regret that and will make a greater effort in the future to insure it will not be repeated.

I wish I could learn more languages! As the Poet said, "Were there but World enough, and time."

Right now I have my first serious customer from China wanting to purchase a knife. How weird can that get? :-o

One lesson I have learned from this episode: the next time a customer sends payment I have not asked for, I will return it immediately without discussion. I have never asked for full payment for a knife in advance of the knife being finished and do not plan on starting. I require a deposit with the order, but that's all.

I would be happy to post a pic of Moonlight's knife when I finish it up.

The mods would probably only agree to a thread title change if moonlight himself would ask for it to be changed.

moonlight,
if you wish for a more neutral title, simply report this post of mine to the mods (using the red and white warning icon in the upper right corner).
of course i want to change the title of this thread

No, he cannot change the title of his thread.

He could have done that only within the first couple of minutes after posting it. After that time frame is over, the title change will only affect the title that is displayed right over the actual content of the initial post (he already changed that to "Kevin Wilkins misunderstanding"). A moderator will have to do it if the new title is supposed to show in the thread list.

I edited the title at moonlight's request. It's a software bug -- sometimes editing the title of the first post also changes the title of the thread, sometimes it doesn't. There's another way moderators can do it that always works.

The original title was "Kevin Wilkins Sucks"

Went through the decision process in dialog with Kevin on an upcoming project. He listened, offered differing suggestions, added some, discarded some, and now we have an order commenced.

Order form has been mailed, deposit has been secured, and BOTH of us are pleased with the upcoming project.

All in a timely and professional manner. As it should be. I never once even asked about the timeframe. For me it's irrelevent.

News and photos in the future....

I got the Damasteel blades back from heat treating today and they look good, so I expect to be finsihing the knife and getting it out in May as planned. I hate to talk too much about a knife in progress until I have it locking up, as I am a bit superstitious (sp?). All parts for the knife are now completed. I just gotta put 'em all together and fit and finish.

The knife moonlight ordered is ready to ship. I'll email him and ask for a confirmation of the address to which he would like it sent and that he will be around to receive the package. Once I get that, off she goes! The knife has a titanium pivot screw in the pics but if moonlight prefers my more usual stainless Torx screw I will be happy to swap the screws before I post the knife.

I hope Moonlight will post here once he receives the knife and I hope the knife will be what he was expecting. I am machining an unsharpened false edge on all Ghost Dog Pup blades as well as totally chamfering the blade spine which I think really looks cool on the Damasteel. I think you can see this in the pics.

In any case, I am prepared to take the knife back for a full refund of ALL monies paid by Moonlight (except postage) within 14 days, no reason needed. Just let me know, return the knife unused and I will immedaitely transfer the funds to his PayPal account.

The knife is (I think) really nice and I hope that despite his frustration he may still enjoy it.

Thanks to everyone who made a positive contribution to this thread. I appreciate it very much.

I'll take it, Kevin ! :D

I sent you my shipping adress this morning.
What a beauty!
Sorry again for the misunderstanding, kevin. :o

Got your mail moonlight, I will go ahead and bring the knife to the Post today, Friday, 5th May. Let me know when you have it!

I made you a good ad in a lot of forums, Kevin.
I'm sure you will have some new orders soon ! ;)

I'm sure glad it worked out. I know for a fact, that knife would sell to any number of people, should the originally intended buyer change his mind.

The knife is very beautiful.
I'm delighted to see this deal is on the right track and will complete nicely for both parts involved
