Khuk cutting tests -- metals

Lizards are neat because they are smart and can be quite playful. Not like a dog...but pretty good to have around for company.

when you say 'cut others' you mean a knife that has cut other knives or been subjected to similar exceptional stresses?

I have to say both. Some on this forum that have been to war know what I am talking about when I say that there are enough situations that can arrise to put the blade to the extreme. If that extreme has already been met beforehand, I will look for another blade. I can no longer trust one that has been put to max abuse.

But you'd have to test the one you trusted somewhat before you could trust it.

But you wouldn't have to try Yvsa's plan to have one run over by an Abrams tank.

Munk,

I tend to think the problem is usually 99% user and 1% knife. You should test the knife to see if it works under normal conditions. If it fails you have a defective knife; if it survives you have a good well functioning knife. Yes, perhaps under extreme conditions such a knife can break, so can every other piece of natural and issued equipment that you will have with you. It is up to the user to keep their head under pressure. Chances are you will break your leg (and perhaps your neck) if you leap off a 20 foot cliff. There is no point is testing that under normal circumstances. You just need to stay focus and remember that there are some things that you really should try to avoid. Chopping through tempered steel with a knife is probably a good example.

Very good. You said it best. That is what I've done with my khuks; tested them cutting wood, with some dried pine. N2, I love my Khukuris. I am not a knife guy...really...but I like Khukuris. As with all my fine tools, taking care of them so they will take care of me is what it is all about. That is my opinion.

I love my khukuris.
