Khukri Fighting

Having some experience with knife fight (not been in one thankfully) the best way to actually stop an opponent if you intend to do some serious damage is let them strike at you, deflect the strike, cut the motor function in the arm and then stab into the throat or the kidneys. D

This tactic assumes you know the level of your opponents skill and that you are superior. But in a fight you more than likely do not know the persons background unless you know them personally or have fought before. This method will get you killed if your opponent is more skilled than you.

I prefer to remember one of Musashis points. Everything you do should be done with the intent of killing.

Guys, we have a sort of unspoken rule about martial arts discussions here. (Due to past bad experiences.) Let's end this one with a wink and a nod, ok ?

I have done a lot of training in incapacitating an opponent with one or two moves. Granted it is self defense but it is self defense with bite.

On the cricket bat thing, yep if you are a cricketer then you can absolutely defend yourself, i know a guy who defended himself from a rampaging dog with a straight drive, he belted the dog over the fence for six. :D

You said you have some experience with a knife fight but then say you have not been in one. What does that mean?

So you assume that as you are being attacked with a knife you will be able to draw your own knife, and "cut the motor function" in the arm before stabbing intot the throat or kidneys? In another post you say that you should never stab. Which is it. How are you accessing the kidneys from the front? What should I do if I can't get my knife out?

It's totally Khool to talk about which ones are best, I do it all the time, but you know, MA discussions tend to get heated and draw the trolls like flies on BBQ. It tends to decay the gentleman's (and Ladies') atmosphere we try to keep. I have done my own bit of damage, so I am asking with my hat in my hand.
Everybody here knows I am a Gelbu Special Fan. I have owned every size. I think they are the #1 fighting khukuri HI makes, but a Chitlangi can sometimes really stoke my fire.
They are ALL dangerous knives, no doubt...

Now that is some evil kuji kiri!!!, I'm going to loggoff, eat and go down for the count...at 1:42am NY time...
