khukris by BUSSE?

The clitoris of Kali should be an option. A Khukri in Infi would swell any clit because of the sex appeal. And for us men, it would mean no more Cialis or Viagra. I hope this post is not offensive because I meant it in good taste. If not, move it to Whine and Cheese. I just love Khukris and have several from Himalayan Imports. But a Khukri in Infi would be a blast! Bring it on!

Alright guys, let's keep the clit talk to a minimum. Jerry did two khukri inspired blades and auctioned them off for the families of the two fine fellows from the HI forum. If i recall correctly a full on Khukri might not work for INFI and I think Jerry can only get it in bars of a certain size, thus limiting the size of blade, but I might well be wrong.

That c...... of Kali is only ONE of many stories why the cho (indentations) is on a Khukuri. The truth has been lost in time.
Why, dear Lord, must I quote myself?
If you don't believe me do your own research in the HI forum.
IT IS A CHO. A CHO. Repeat after me. CHO! Thank you, have a good night.

I once read that the kaura or cho is essentially a Hindu religious and phallic symbol, that also represents the Trident of Shiva.

AFAIC, the whatever-you-want-to-call-it notch should be the requisite Busse Bottle Opener.

Wisdom and Good Sense works it's way to the surface yet again. BBO just sounds better than "thingamanotchyjigger" too.;) :D

Myself I just don`t see it ever happening. One of the things that goes into deciding on a new design is the TOTAL cost of the steel used. (ie: all of the steel needed to make one INCLUDING THE SCRAP STEEL CUT AWAY FROM THE BAR TO GIVE THE KNIFE IT`S SHAPE) For example even though the SHSH2 finished out at roughly one pound in weight, it took three pounds of steel to make it. A kukhri with a big angled blade would produce alot of wasted infi that wouldn`t be able to be made into other knives. And since Jerry has to have infi made just for him it`s very expensive compared to other steels produced for industry in larger amounts.
Of course, I never thought I@d see the War Boar made for the same reasons. So maybe I`m talking out of my hat. Maybe if there was enough interest, he`d bring it to the tables. Who know what really goes on in the mind of that burbon besotted genius?????

Interesting, I never thought of the extra metal in knife making. I hope to see one by BUSSE, Swamp Rat, or Scrapyard...

I'm just looking for a SUPER tough one that wil last for ever.

I would guess that Busse uses some sort of CAD program to do the layout of blanks on the INFI stock/bars, to get the most efficient use of metal. So it may be possible to nest a small knife design in the gaps of the large blade to reduce waste.

Unless of course he has to worry about the grain direction, like is done for Carbon V  :D

btw, Jerry is Scotch skunked, not Bourbon besotted ;)

I'm sure that given Jerry's clientelle and their tastes in design and material along with the cornocoppia phenomena at the trough, if he wanted to bring on a new design such as the khukri, he would. I'm not sure how the shop is tooled up as far as CNC, but multi-axis machining and nesting within the tooling and material parameters is extremely cost prohibitive. In short, if you think INFI is expensive, try maintaining tools for this kind of production. Like I said, I don't know a thing about how they run production, but I do know it cannot be cheap. Changing designs within a production environment is nice to brainstorm but difficult and expensive to materialize. I want to see some new designs too, after a new release of the BA and NO of course. I'm sure Jerry will consider my opinions a little more when I actually buy more INFI.;) :D

That would be my guess as well, perhaps CAD-controlled laser cutting of the blanks. If you look at the curve of the khukri, I agree that you could nestle some darling little knife in the gap. :)

Here's a quick sketch that I came up with for a recent thread over on the Swamprat forum. It is for a Swamp Rat Khukuri, but it could easily be adapted for Busse usage. It would be a 3/8" thick, 18" OAL Khukuri with a 13" blade weighing in at around 28 -30 oz. The handle would be the same type as on the new Ratweiler.

The choil was thrown in as an ode to the "Cho" found on traditional Khuks. Not sure how useful it would be here, except looking cool.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is what I really, really, really want!

Cheers,
BJB :D

That design reminds me of a cross between Dan Koster's Pen knife, and the Cold steel "frying pan" mega Khukuri! IMO, the flat is just too wide. An Ang Khola that size is a heavy beast, anything much heavier would fit into "inefficient" category! (just my opinion, though.)

It has been said that the kami's partly beleive that the cho allows blood to drip off the blade before coming down onto the handle where it would make the grip more slippery. I'm sure the logistics of that are wrong, but maybe they aren't.

Honestly, if you could get jerry or garth to forge a bend in a MOAB, you'd pretty much be set.

But then, I'd also want it to be 1/2" thick.
