Here are some new sheaths Paul Long did for me

They are set up for baldric Carry

2 of them have Cape Buffalo skin from a Bull I harvested in Tanzania a few years back

the last one has a shark overlay

They are set up for straight up and down or canted

The doner of the overlay

CPL PUNISHMENT I used some of your design elements. Thank You

Now those are works of art! I would love to get one of those baldric carry rigs.

JParanee,
First that is some very nice leather work by Mr Long!
Second, are those gusseted (3rd piece sandwiched between the top & bottom around the edge) or welted (2 thick pieces with space between them for the blade)?
Thanks for posting these it gives me some good starting points for making my next few sheaths.

I will try and answer your question

Paul's sheaths are deer skin lined so you actually have 4 layers

when you have an overlay it is a 5 layer

Paul does very fine work and has built alot of sheaths for me they wear like iron and only improve with age

I hope I have answered your question if not Paul is a good friend I can ask him more for you

Nope taking a closer look at the picture answered it they would technically be gusseted. I like leather sheaths, made right, they do tend to get better with age and gain character. My blackberry holster has taken some hits that in another case would have destroyed the phone:eek:

Joe those are fantastic. Truly lovely sheaths froma master of the art.

My old M-43's sheath is looking a bit ratty too.

Those are absolutely beautiful. The deerskin lining is the icing inside the cake:cool: Compliments on your selection of kukris as well.

Thanks to all

Nice sheaths Joe. Beautiful and supremely functional. I'm surprised you didn't get one made for the Gelbu Special.

There are a few that I would like to send out the Gelbu Special being on that list . But all in good time

A couple of corrections, if I may. These three sheaths are all lined with light weight cowhide instead of Deer skin. Stronger and longer lasting under a strain and stress and less likely to wick moisture. (Since these are in transit to Joey, he hasn't seen them yet and was expecting deer Skin)

All, repeat, All my sheaths are welted with a 1/2" welt.
The thickness of the welt will vary according to the blade requirements.

I know all this stuff because the maker and I are very close.

Paul
