Khukuri sheaths from P lLong

Thanks for chiming in here Paul. Did you make the baldric also?

If a Baldric is that strap thingy, then yes, I made that also. It has two swivel snaps to mate up with the D rings on the sheaths.......but Joey calls it his Ninja Strap?????

Paul,
thanks for clearing that up. I usually gusset my pieces instead of welting them but that is more ignorance of the welting process than anything else. Edge on the sheaths look a lot like the gusseted pieces I make hence the confusion. When I finish re-handling my 12" CAK or I get my next Khuk. I'm going to take a local Leathersmith up on a one-on-one class to unlearn my bad habits;)
And I will stop hijacking this thread

Based on your description several posts back, what you call gusset, I call welt and I'm not sure what your definition of welt is or how it would apply. I do frequently put a wedge in on top of the welt to give extra blade relief for short distance, but it's still all a welt. My definition of a gusset is an expanding and/or contracting piece ie on the end of a purse or luggage.

you are not highjacking so please no worries

good luck on your sheaths

Joe, thanks. Paul does some very nice work. I know the time & effort that went into the "slop" I posted and it gives me a better appreciation of just how hard it is to do right. For reference I probably have 10 hours tied up in that sheath. And triple that or more in the knife.
Paul, its probably a terminology thing the gentleman who showed me how to do it that way made a lot of cases & purses but not many holsters or sheaths.
