:cool:Very sweet looking knives here folks all the multi colored scales are very nice!!! I also like the curved match stryker nail nics!!:D

What the? Those are some crazy scales- what are they? Are they celluloid, or corelon, or casein, or some weird alien substance?

Whatever it is, I'm liking it a lot.

They're celluloid and are refered to as "End of Day". When the old knife companies handled their knives in celluloid there would be bits and pieces of scrap from different colors and types left on the tables at the end of the work day. They would take these pieces and put them together to make a new handle material. Hence the name "End of Day".

My wife normally has zero interest in knives, but I showed her these and she really likes them.

You must have to wear sunglasses . . . when you go into that knife roll, Greg:cool:!:D

Probably one of my most colorful knife rolls. Keep in mind that each photo is of just one knife. Not two. I try to show both sides of each knife in a single display. So, there aren't as many as it would seem in the roll. Most of the Fight'n Roosters I have are Pearl but the End of Day ones are sorta special. Someone said that their wife liked the looks of these guys. Show her the Humming Bird if you should come across one. I have never met a woman that didn't liked that one. I used to give 'em to my buddies to give to their wives when they got home from a knife show. They wouldn't get in so much trouble for spending money on edged fancys. I used to have quite a few of them but don't have a single one lleft to give away now.

Cool info, thanks! I'm starting to like the looks of synthetic materials. It's too bad celluloid has so many problems, because it can look amazing. I'm hoping more makers take an interest in using really nice synthetics- I have an old Remington with pyremite scales that is looks great- "stars and stripes" is what it was called, I think. I need to get some scans of that one- but it looks like the one on the bottom here:

80 some odd years old, and still lookin' good.

I wish somebody would make some new knives with some scales like that Fight'n Rooster "end of day" stuff- who wouldn't like that? None of GEC's acrylic looks anywhere near that good.

Well Greg, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them all and every one else's to boot.. End of Day celluloid IMO is the most interesting of all celluloid scaled handles. However, if your out of EOD's to share, then I for one would love to see those old Pearl Kick'n Chickens of you're'n,, because those MOP's are Kinda Purdy too.. :D

I like 'em a bunch too SunnyD. They are just a real pain to get decent photos of. Pearl is tuff to shoot. I'll play around with a few tho and see what happens. I might even learn sumpin'.

Yea why is that?. I can hold the most breathtaking fieriest looking MOP in my hand and when I capture those little gals on film, they just aren't done justice and always look more colorful in person. Black lip and Gold lip seem to show they're ambient brilliance much more readily but Mother of Pearl just isn't as revealing.

ps: If anyone here can do it best, its you Greg!. You pictures are amazing, brother.

It's the light and the angle of it. Here is a "Back To Back Muskrat". Not exactly a household item.

Holy crap:eek::thumbup: I'm not a big fan of MOP but that is nice and I really like the double rat very neat, first time to see ANY THING like that:cool:!

Thanks for giving it a try and WOW:D!

That double rat is crazy! I've never seen anything like that. It looks kinda like a Milk Bone. Perhaps not the most practical pattern ever, but it is interesting- and gives you nice wide slabs of that lovely pearl.

No, not exactly.

Thanks Gregory, she is a beauty. "Back to Back Muskrat".?. Wow, I did not know what the true name of the pattern was officially called. So thanks for the education as well.. moonwilson said 'milkbone' and I was thinking 'dogbone'.:D .. Very nice indeed.

Kinda tuff to follow that one too.

Older regular Muskrat..

You guys are killing me with these Roosters, those pearls are fantastic...Greg that back to back is killer...Maybe you guys can help me identify this one, its supposed to be a muskrat with both blades at one end, what do you think??

FightnRoosteronesidedpearlmuskrat.jpg

Sunburst,

Not a Muskrat. Sort of a Serpentine kinda Texas Jack with the wrong blade combo.. :p .. Hell, who knows?. Old Cuz was a crazy rascal and sometimes made stuff up as he went along after his knives got more and more famous. Not only is that knife sweet but you sure captured some fine color in that one too.
