Kitchen Knife Kith - summer 2016 (Sept. 5th Deadline!)

glad you are able to finish one up and warren too!
Here is my entry, just need to do the saya. Ive made a few errors in my haste though, The ferrule has a saw cut finish where the machi is....whooops. Im still working out my method for these handles but here is Dove-Wa handle #2. The pieces of this handle had all been rough fit waiting for the right knife for over a year so , I figured it was time :)

The Deadline
OK Everyone! This is the final weekend before the KITH deadline! To be in the KITH you have got to send me all of your info as described in the Sticky atop this forum. And also post that your Knife is complete and you are ready! You must do this by Midnight Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HAST) -1000 UTC!

The Drawing
On Tuesday the 6th I will have my lovely assistant video my computer screen as I put in a list in the random.org site Each person in the Kith will be assigned a number based on the order that I have received info from everyone. In the event that someone draws themselves I will hit the randomize button again until we have a list where no one draws themselves.

Sound like fun?! Now It is labor day weekend after all and no one can blame you for taking it easy this weekend so just remember there is always next year!

Looks like I'm gonna make it. Just finishing up the saya.

I'm sorry Timos, I'm going to be out. I've been down with the flu the past couple days, and am too run down to finish. I tried, but cut myself twice last night from lack of focus, and put the tools down. Part of the problem is I had my blanks mixed up, and this knife is hitachi blue, not very fun to hand sand. I don't want to submit submit something slopped together at the last minute as the knives submitted so far are excellent.

Afraid I won't make it, I'm still at sea (literally) and the last patch home didn't make the necessary progress.

got a knife done with saya. basic sorta nakari, 7" cutting edge, 1 3/4" width, blade is 1/16" O1, total length is 11", canary wood handle.

Unfortunately I'm out as well. Got my blade forges out and finished but won't have time to get the handle done properly in time.

Not sure if I want to enter it. After seeing all the giant chef knives, mine seems very outclassed. Still, I want to show what I did. This is my first knife that wasn't either convex or FFG. FFG just seems easier for me. I had a lot of problems getting the bevels somewhat clean looking, but this isn't bad. I've made 5 knives with this same blade shape and only slight changes. I like this one the best. It is shallow enough to fit under a fork, long enough to do most kitchen cutting. I use a similar one 98% of the time in the kitchen. I just cut up a watermelon and sliced a bunch of pork chops and loved the feel of the handle. Best handle I've made in 6 years of bladesmithing.

9-3/8" OAL, 5-1/8" edge length
G10 handle, red spacer, brass corby bolts
CPM-S30V blade
Right handed asymmetry on the handle (very slight)

CPM-S30V is evil! The edge it holds is awesome, but such a pain to work with.

My wife loves that style of blade. I'm actually making her one simaler like that out of A2. It's her first knife design so I wanted to build it for her. But yours is good looking and should work amazing in the kitchen.

That is a blade you should enter in any contest it is a very sleak, and sexy blade you should be rather proud of it .I like the Ivory colored handle it works great with the design of that blade.

lol that's not my blade, I was just quoting another post and saying I like it.

I am really sorry I missed this one - I would have loved to join. I am definitely going to join next time (I guess that will be next year)
