Kizer Ki403A1 First impressions and pics

As of november 2016 Kizer released a new version of the Ki403.
Where the original version had a carbidized frame lock the new version features a steel lock insert to form the interface between titanium lock bar and the steel blade ramp. This insert also doubles as overtravel prevention for the lock bar. So the Hinderer type LBS used on the original model is no longer needed.
A titanium insert to cover the pocket clip cut out that is not in use, is a very nice bonus.
The new version also has the new Kizer logo but still has the old pivot screw ...

Hi, Mesenzo:

Thank you very much for the update summary!

Wanted to mention that the old style pivot screw is actually compatible with a long bladed screw driver or a hex driver of the appropriate size. This came up a bit when talking about the unique pivot.

thank you.

Kizer.

Hi, Mesenzo:

Thank you very much for the update summary!

Wanted to mention that the old style pivot screw is actually compatible with a long bladed screw driver but you have to grind the tip a little thinner to fit the small slots in the pivot! or a hex driver of the appropriate size = T35. This came up a bit when talking about the unique pivot.

thank you.

Kizer.

Hmm just ran across this review and figured I'd pop in as well. This was the first and only kizer I have purchased to date. Loved the blade grinds and size as well. Now 2 years later it's with my brother who is serving overseas. He loves it as well. Great knife especially for the money.

Ive had this model Kizer going on 3 years now,its my one and only knife.
Once a small collector of knives, income forced me to just own one knife for everything.
For a do it all knife it surpasses my needs and is working just as the day i bought it as an edc.

No blade play and snaps open just like a flipper given time to break in. While id prefer a thinner blade, the width insures it can do things i wouldnt attempt with a thinner knife.
The updated version looks great too. Kizer has done a great job making a knife that would cost 2x-3x by many other makers that holds up to the same standards.

Im sure ill loose this knife by accident before i ever break or wear it out.
