Kizlyar, Kizlyar supreme and other Russian knives (Russian view)

So, what is your opinion of RosArms knives? I have some of them but have barely used them. Also have a knife from A&R that I had to destroy and remake the handle as it was too short for my hand.

Pretty cool to see the knives and general thoughts on them from a Russian perspective. Thanks for all the info. I've had a Kizlyar phoenix for a few years and its a well made knife. I ended up giving it to my daughter as the handle fit her hand better than mine and she loved the blade shape.

Are you interested to learn about knives officially in service in the Russian army?
I can write about it in more detail everything that I know. I served in the army in the forces of the Marine Corps 3 years ago.

Kizlyar phoenix - heavy duty knife. We on the forum once had his crash test. If interested - I can search.

After reading this thread I looked up Kizlar supreme, and I was quite surprised how expensive they are.

I repair watches. And I remember 20 years ago when Russian made Poljot chronograph watches hit the western market. Because Russia had been a closed country no one knew about them, so you could get them for very cheap. But thanks to the internet people realized that for the price you were getting a incredibly cool watch. The demand skyrocketed so much that the factory couldn't keep up and actually wore out the tooling! The quality dropped and the prices on them skyrocketed. Do you think it's a similar situation with Kizlar knives? They were cheap so westerners started buying them up faster then they can make them, and the quality decreased while the prices skyrocketed. Or were they poorly made even back in soviet times?

Heres google translates interpretation of this post

This is a business. Nothing personal. I buy a knife from Kizlyar Supreme in Russia for $ 30, in Germany and America it costs 70 or more. Including Kizlyar Supreme focuses more on Europe and America than on the local market. My opinion

well, whatever experience you have with the brands.

Kizlyar Supreme - the brand is quite young, so there can be no talk of any "glorious Soviet past".
In principle, the knives of this company are not at all terrible, even with their value in the United States, there are many American brands in this price segment whose quality is comparable or worse. But I do not see the point of buying Kizlyar Supreme knives in Russia, when there are Buck Knives and Cold Steel knives - they have a more stable quality, glorious history, good advertising and fame. Moreover, I see no reason to purchase Kizlyar Supreme knives in the USA.

I did not see so many pictures with broken knives from Cold Steel or Buck or Ka-bar (with normal use of the knife), but I saw a lot of pictures with broken knives Kizlyar Supreme. If I chose between Kizlyar Knives and Kizlyar Supreme - I would choose Kizlyar knives. Brand Kizlyar Knives is older, more distinctive, and indeed knives are made in Russia (there is no doubt about that). Kizlyar Supreme, I believe, is produced in China. If I want a Chinese knife - I'll take the SRM knives brand.

Kizlyar Supreme has one interesting model, in my opinion. This knife was born on the forum rusknife.com (designed by A.A.Mak - "father" of rusknife.com), and in the original - one of the best combat knives that I have ever seen.
Kizlyar Supreme produces household version of this knife, which can buy any resident of Russia.

All fractional day! Today I had free time, and, first of all, I found the Kizlyar Knives instagram (not Kizlyar Supreme)
Here he is https://www.instagram.com/kizlyar_knife_1111/

Secondly - today I will write about a great Russian brand - Owlknife
https://www.instagram.com/owlknife/
http://www.owlknife.ru/

This is a young Russian brand, I learned about it when I was serving in the armed forces, and I acquired the first knife of this company only in 2017. Knives medium - high (depending on the materials used) price segment. Very, VERY good quality, small-scale production. First of all, they are interesting with their modern versions of Finnish-type knives:

As the material of the handles, most often, is used Micarta, G10, Corian. Very rarely - a tree.
Sheath material - kydex, very good leather.
Very interesting blade grind (for example, a lens like Bark Rivers). At the moment, knives with a similar grind are not produced by anyone else in Russia. Also, modern versions of Finnish-type knives with a blade of 140mm and 160mm can be considered unique - there are no analogues in modern production.

The company makes custom-made knives of non-standard sizes, non-standard blade grind and non-standard materials used. Owlknife also produces very good, professional kitchen knives and one prototype folding knife :)

Knives 100% are made in Russia, manual production. If you buy a knife from Owlknife - it will be a reliable assistant, the quality may be higher than the price. I fully recommend the purchase, I myself have one knife from this company, but there are two more knives from this company on my wish-list.

This is my North-L. Strong and solid. Sleipner blade steel. One of the most beloved in the small collection. Grind is a lens. Very nice knife for real work.
