KMG drive wheel set screw

Dream on, Andrew. Thanks, Stan and Andrew - that's what I thought it meant but thought maybe there was a machinist term I didn't know.

Stan was right. I found the set screw for less than a dollar and it did the trick.

That is much better then buying a brand new wheel

As for your tracking be sure the center of all wheels are in alignment and use plenty of tension on the arm

I found the tracking problem. Well, let me be clear, the grinder ALWAYS has a tracking problem, but I can make it operable, I just need to watch when I put a lot of pressure on the blade the belt drifts. So I've learned to use a lighter touch.

Anyway, the problem was a warped belt. When I switched to a trusty old 800 grit belt, it stayed nicely in place with no work being done on it.

So if I'm not totally operational now, I'm pretty close. I will get time to do some work this weekend. That sandwiched damascus billet is calling to me. It wants a sharp straight spine. It wants to show off its tattoos. It chastises me every day I don't work on it. It is a cruel task master.

If that is what happens when you apply pressure then you do not have enough belt tension.

I use a 60lbs spring on my GIB and the arm horizontal to the floor.

Agreed. You can almost never have too much tension. :)

Just got my motor for my 2x72 I'm planning on building and the shaft just has a flat for a grub screw vs a keyway.

Is a grub proving to be sufficient for grinder uses?

Since the belt will slip, or just jump off the wheels, if there is some stoppage of the belt, either will work on a belt grinder.

Baldor 2hp with a 5/8 shaft.

I imagine you'll be fine. If it was a rubber drive wheel or under very high tension, I might add an additional screw Just for grins, but I doubt it will be an issue.
