kmg set up

hey how long did you have to wait for your kmg to arrive from the time you placed the order---is it a 2 person carry?---thanks
 
I got my KMG all set up.

mine is way better of a kmg than yours.........i got scared when i first turned on my vfd. the spring lock part felt like i was forcing it to the on position. i thought i was gonna break it but i called mr. frink and he said that was normal.
 
oh by the way what do you call the lever with the screww iin the middle-the one that secures the tool bar. i got 2 of them--what is the other one used for? maybe i just ordered it just to have an extra one. anyway i used it with another one i had and bolt it to the tool rest--that way i just turn it and the tool rest comes right off.

It looks great Rob!! I think you will really enjoy that big Honkin' 3hp package. It doesn't look like you've skimped on anything...including the work bench!!

I built that for my KMG over a year ago, in anticipation. I'm a tall guy and I always got neck cramps while leaning down, working on my friends KMGs. So I made a tall table that fits me perfectly and I went all out to make it as sturdy as possible. I can't budge the table one bit, it's loaded with heavy stuff on the lower shelf.
 
As long as we are talking adding to the KMG... What is the advantage to serrated contact wheels?
 
A serrated contact wheel is supposed to make the belts cut more quickly than they do on a smooth contact wheel. I have used both, but I have never compared them side by side to give a fair comparison. I'm pretty sure it's true that they do make a difference. The serrated wheels seem to grind the bevels just as smooth and even as a smooth wheel.

A serrated wheel is also supposed to reduce heat by having the spaces where the belt is not in direct contact with the wheel.
