By next week, i should be able to put in my order for a KMG!!!!!! FINALLY, freedom. One person i would like to thank above all is Mitch(Troop), you really don't know what it means to me THANKS BUDDY!

Hey, Sam, with Christmas coming up why don't you order two....I'll trade ya' a Grizz for one of them :D Just kiddin'!!! Congrats!!!!!!!

wooo hooo. way to go man. time to step up and get grinding out some more of those knives.... think of how fast you'll be able to pump these suckers out huh? crongrats man way to go

Oh boy!! I know the excitment Sam!! Dont skimp on the motor :p :foot: that might make 3 KMG's in our county!!!:D

Thanks guys. i am so excited, practically drooling. Erik, sounds like a GOOD deal;). Mike, i am really REALLY looking forward to taking my work to the next level, i will not forgo hammer work, but all the new stuff will be much cleaner, plunge cuts, sharp lines. Things are gonna fly out the shop now, maybe not into buyer's hands hehe but out of the shop:). Joe, i only have a 1HP for now, and it should work good but when i can raise up some money i will for sure be upgrading to the 2 with the speed control.

I'm thinking you won't be with the 1 HP for very long at all. I have a 2 HP with the VFD and love it. I would love to have a 3 HP, believe it or not.

Ickie

p.s. Congrats

Way to go Sam  Even with a 1HP motor, you'll be raising a lot of steel dust :D

Thanks guys! Ickie, yeah i will hopefully be able to buy a more powerful motor as soon as possible, but will work with what i have now until i can afford it. I have had the privelage to be able to use my teacher's 5HP 3 phase Bader Space Saver, so i am a bit spoiled in that aspect hehe. I also forge very close to final shape, so i really need to just clean off the scale, crisp up the lines and edge, and polish. Thanks Larry. Should work good, i cannot wait to get it, been waiting for about 1 1/2 year now since i have gone fulltime trying to open my own blacksmithing/bladesmithing/ironwork shop to get a suitable grinder. Thanks Michael!

Congrats Sam!! You will love the KMG !!! If I were to do it again I believe that I would save myself a lot of cash and go with the 3 step pulley system over the VFD..I find that I only use slow, med and flat out...The step pulley's do that with ease and don't require the fancy parts and wiring problems to deal with..My opinion is save a couple of hundred on the VFD and spend the money on another tool or supplies..

Thanks! That is what i will be doing, glad to hear that Louis. I was thinking "well since i cannot afford the vfd just yet, maybe the pulley system will work good enough for slow and fast, for hogging and finish work". Will be nice to save that couple hundred, get a 2 or 3 HP motor from ebay and a bunch of belts:D.

Nice man. Up the HP! I have a 2hp and i still bog it down from time to time. I dont have VFD and am trying to avoid trying one with one because i know ill want one then. 99% of the time i am in the middle pulley anyways and only go to slow for finish work. I rarely run it full-out for some reason.

You are most welcome. Just help me get through the ABS Journeyman Smith test....that'll be all the thanks I need! :D

Just placed my online order tonight, Thanks Rob! I cannot wait! I ordered the platen chassis, a 5 inch wheel, and the step pullies for the motor and the driveshaft, plus th elittle spindle nut for the wheels on the tooling arm.

Yeah, I'm jealous, too! :grumpy: I gotta wait a couple weeks until I get my knee scoped before I pull the trigger on one from Rob.
Sam: If I get it before the surgery, I'll be jumping around all over the place grinding all the metal I can find! :D (Doc says I gotta stay off my feet for a while.)

:D. Definately try to get that order in Mitch before the surgery! I could not think of a better way to spend being laid up with a bound up leg than in front of the grinder.

Don't be jealous guys, i have been waiting for almost 2 years now for this oppurtunity, and watched countless others say the same thing and then me cry hehe. Your time will come, no worries.

Sam, it is on the way. It was shipped out today and should arrive in a few business days.
Thank you for the order!

-Rob
