Give Brett Mathews a halla I am pretty sure his work rests will work with KMG. Brett is a member here and the maker of the Esteem grinder. LINK
Here is a pic of one of his work rests. NOT MY PHOTO OR GRINDER, Credit for photo goes to Shawn Hatcher.Sorry Shawn it was poor form on my part. It will not happen again.

Not to open up a can of worms but does this wok rest stay put when set? Are the thread RH threads or LH? Seems the MAP had issue with RH threads with a similar setup but it was likely much heavier?

Does any one if ratcheting levers are available in LH threads? Thanks

Threads are RH (regular threading) I have been using one everyday for a few months now and have not experienced any slipping.

I like the knobs your using on the platen attachment points. Good idea, see your also running a Nathan cooler.

You didn't add a pic "from the web". You added my photo that I am hosting (as is evidenced by my watermark). As you can see from SteelSlaver's post this can create confusion. Moreover, it is unmannerly to use a photo without crediting the photo's origin, most especially when you fail to ask permission for its use.

Shawn, you're just jealous cuz you don't have a pic of a tool rest like that... Oh....er... uh... wait... :p At least he didn't say he made it. ;) LOL

It's funny how many times I've seen one of my photos posted somewhere and the poster will say something like, "some guy at another forum made something like this." Since they have to copy the pic location from where I posted it, it never seems like it should be too hard to say where it came from.

It's not like you have your name on it or something! Oh.... wait... damn it! ;) LMAO

As far as the right hand vs left hand threads... Yea, if you stand on one with a rh thread you'll break it loose, but if you're just using it as a support to grind something, it's fine. I have several tool rests with a similar design to Brett's, and I used a rh thread on all of them, and have never had a problem.

And I'll be the first to admit, my brain has been trained to automatically turn a wrench to tighten or loosen a bolt... anytime I have a left hand thread to deal with, I get all discombobulated...!!! :foot: LOL

Shawn, I apologize for not asking permission.I did not mean ant disrespect and I was not trying to take credit for anything. I was just too lazy to go take a photo of my work rest (that Brett built) so I just googled "Esteem grinders/ image" and your pic was the first one that popped up that showed Brett's work rest clearly. I was just trying to help out the OP. I will edit my post to make it more clear. Again sorry for any inconvenience.

Shawn, I apologize for not asking permission . . . I will edit my post to make it more clear. Again sorry for any inconvenience.

Thank you, sir. I appreciate your understanding and we are good in my book. :)

As for Brett's rest, unfortunately I haven't had a chance to use it much. I will say that it is very well constructed and Brett was very prompt with both his communication and his shipping. I've been meaning to order some adjustable handles from McMaster-Carr (like you see on the top of my tool arm in the above photo), which I think will greatly enhance the speed with which the rest can be adjusted.

I made a simple work rest for my grinder, older pics as I have made some mods . I put the table adjustment lever on the inside so it cannot loosen with pressure. The table is quite sturdy and will not move.
