BUYER BEWARE!

This person is a known scammer on reddit's /r/knife_swap. He scammed 5 different users there and after he was banned he tried to create new accounts to circumvent his ban.

He has scammed on reddit under the names of:

kneightriduh <---- He has a bladeforums account here with the same name.

Benchmademe

Spydercollector

All 3 of these accounts are flagged with a red flair on the subreddit /r/knife_swap, if you are dealing with somebody under these names, if the shipping is addressed to "Dan Lee", you know it's him.

Just a heads up this guy scammed a bunch of people on reddit.com/r/knife_swap and probably should be banned here.
 
He's selling on the Exchange without even having a Gold Membership. As a paying member of nearly 4 years, this is pretty irritating. Why pay for a Gold Membership when any unscrupulous person can sell on the Exchange?
 
Based on the OP's warning chiclets, I'm guessing that he posted in that sales thread and that it got deleted by a mod. If so, I'm not sure why the non-Gold member was allowed to keep the sales thread open. Something needs to be done to protect those unwitting buyers.

Edited to add: I reported the sales thread. It'll presumably be closed, but I'm not sure what happens to the people who are buying from the seller.

I reported the sales thread last night around 11pm eastern, but nothing has been done yet.


I'm one of the ones that he scammed in July 2016 but I was successful in getting a resolution from finding out his real information and via self-help. His real name is Dan T. Lee from Bellevue, WA, but he went by "Chau Hill" on his PayPal account on my incident.


If someone who got scammed here wants to open up a claim with their Police Department, I will happily sign an affidavit detailing what happened in my case, attach all my correspondences with him and his sister and his mom (including their real names and contact info), and attach all my relevant research and screenshots linking him to these posts from all 3 accounts. I would have pursued prosecution, but since I got a resolution, it wasn't worth my time. He's on the hook for felony-amount of fraud.


This guy is the worst kind of scum and has some kind of depression ruse to make you think feel bad for him and not press charges.

Yup, exactly what happened. I posted this in that thread, it got removed, and I got a warning. Just trying to look out for people.

No idea why his sale thread is still up....he doesn't even have a gold membership. Come on! Absolutely ridiculous.
 
I almost bought a blade from this seller recently...glad I didn't...Thanks for the heads up and info :thumbup:

He must have a Gold Membership, otherwise he would not be able to start a thread in the For Sale by Individual section of the Exchange nor would he have PM's activated. He just has yet to update his usergroup.
 
His membership probably lapsed and he didn't re-up on payment. Just to think, I almost picked up the cruwear Manix he had for sale, but something told me to search his username first! I'm glad I did!
 
Thanks for the heads up. I went through his registration info and it's the same person. His threads are locked and his account banned.

PSA - If someone starts thread in the Exchange, regardless of the color of their username, they have a membership to sell. They wouldn't be able to start the thread if they didn't have the correct account permissions. The process of changing your user group is manual so people tend to pay for a membership and not change their user group and stay "blue."

EDIT: Didn't see the info on membership was already posted. :p

I reported the thread this morning as well. Looks to be closed, thank goodness. This guy is super shady. We actually had someone with a legal background involved that helped resolve it for us at /r/knife_swap..

I was thinking about buying the Hinderer but something seemed off at first and after you posted I was glad I waited
 
I reported it also, with a link to this thread. No reason for that garbage to be pulled here.
