For you veterans, all the various knife acronyms come second nature. But for newbies like me, I think it would be helpful to have a list of commonly and not so commonly used acronyms at our disposal. I'm always Googling when I come across one I don't know and feel a bit reluctant to interrupt a forum conversation with such questions.

Is there such a list here on BF (Blade Forums)? If not, do you think a list would be a good idea? The following are a few that I've been able to figure out (I think):

Please add to the list and/or make corrections. Thanks!

CPM is definitely not crunchy puffy marshmallows, it's Crucible Particle Metallurgy.
DLC is Diamond Like Carbon

While you are at it how about definitions for the various versions of "NIB" / New In Box. Etc?
There are a few I am sketchy on.

Pages and pages. You would need separate categories like: knife companies, common internet abbreviations, steel designations, sales jargon.

Nothing wrong with interrupting a thread with a question. Sometimes people just make up their own abbreviations and no one else really knows or cares what they mean.

When in doubt, spell it out.

Thanks everyone! If nothing else, the list might prove helpful for searches despite its shortcomings.

Good points, Esav. I probably should have asked first before starting the list - sorry. Please lock the thread if you think it'll become unwieldy.

Not a bad list of TLA's (three letter acronyms)

In my company we have a measurement program called OEE (overall equipment effectiveness), another TLA.

I have proposed a program called Employee Involvement Equals Interest in the Organization, or EIEIO.

(with a quack quack here)

SFO is the one I can't figure out:)

Spyderco Factory Outlet.
