Collectors are strange folks. They generally prefer a knife that is in perfect condition and has all of the factory goodies that came with it. Such as CRK knives...they come with an excellent blue micro-fiber cloth, a birth-card stating the model number and name, type of blade-steel and hardness, a signature from a company rep, the specific date that it left the factory, a note explaining that sharp knives will indeed cut, a "tool" (allen wrench) for allowed disassembly.... (they encourage it and even have procedural instructional videos) and a small tube of pivot lubricant. All of this comes under the heading of "provenance" and for serious collectors, keeping all of this "stuff" together is a must, and is expected by a future buyer or trader.
