Knife brands to stay away from

I disagree I have only seen good things from Gerber, my friends only report good things from their Gerber multitools and knives. My friend had a multitool for years that he carried until he bought a leatherman MUT. Also, my friend has a Gerber 06 and he loves it. However, I would not trust SUPER cheap FOLDING knives from Gerber much less any other brand.

It may be hard to believe but there was a time when a knife branded Remington, Winchester, Gerber, Boker, Camillus and Schrade was pretty much a guarantee of high quality. Things change over the course of time.

As for someone naming Buck....Well, that's a personal opinion, not a consensus. Buck has made good knives for a long time and continues to make good knives. Their low end models don't appeal to me but they make some really excellent but conservative knives at reasonable prices.

I'm not really a Buck fan. I just don't think it's a fair comparison to name Buck in the same sentence with the current knives from Gerber, Schrade, Winchester, etc.

See? That's how these go, illustrating RedLynx's point. Its all fun and games until one's preferences gets mentioned. Then, as Big Mike noted, down it begins.

I am closing this thread I will make a new one saying what are your favorite brands and why also positive things about them

The first thing that came to mind for me were those bud k buy one get one free knives. Never tried one though.
