Nice. Just be sure to drill some holes first. I tried roughing mine up and it worked halfway (one scale popped off during shaping). I cut a few holes re-glued, and it has held much better.
 
spyderphreak, +1 to the holes. epoxy holds better if its a wood to wood bond rather than wood to metal. you need a good drill to make it through this 1075 even though the handle has the factory john deere heat treat which should be around 56rc. a nitride coated drill works the best.

I hate trying to drill hardened steel. Even at work with the industrial oil cooled press it sucks.

Wear earplugs! :D

Noted guys, thanks! I've got some small, solid carbide bits and burrs which will make this much easier. :)
