Knife Carry Options, carry security

Damn cool....๐Ÿ‘Œ

Think I'm gonna have to visit for one of each size...๐Ÿ˜‰
Good deal Thanks!

I recently got one of these for a Buck Saunter 250- it fits well and the pouch is very nice. A very simple, but great idea. I think if more folks knew about them, they would buy them.
Good deal glad thats working out for you!

I love how simple just works, add in Dave's quality and the Mrs too๐Ÿ˜‰ and its a no brainer......Gonna try later n poke around his site..

Where are you in Alaska if you don't mind??
Thanks for the kind words.

I was carrying my Delica and walking through the locker room at work yesterday, brushed up against some uniforms hanging on a locker and heard a strange noise. Luckily I stopped and turned around to find my Delica laying on the floor, the clothing raked it right out of my pocket as I walked by and I didn't feel a thing.

I was carrying my Resilience and walking through work years ago, and must have brushed up against some something, which raked it right out of my pocket as I walked by and I didn't feel a thing. I noticed it not in the usual back right pocket when I got home, and looked for days, until it dawned on me the aforementioned is what probably happened. Luckily it was inexpensive enough, and I bought a new one (and a new ti deep carry clip to replace the one that was on the missing knife), redid my mods, and went about life. Probably a coworker found my Resilience laying on the floor and took it home.

So I am wondering if you are in a situation where you absolutely positively cannot lose your knife, is a belt sheath maybe the best option?
Does anyone have any other thoughts or ideas about how to best keep from losing the pocket jewelry??

I like fixed blade carry in sheath with strong retention. Currently I EDC a large tanto, using Charlie Mike carry method for riding my bike around between the towns in my region. CM carry is belt carry with the handle pointing down. Matt invented that method to be California statute compliant while carrying fixed blades, due to concealment prohibition. I do it because this way it is easier and faster to access at a moment's notice than any folding knife or any other fixed blade carry position while wearing my long coat and gloves. Even a waved folder is not going to be as fast and secure in that condition because the coats gets in the way of accessing the pocket, as do the gloves and the bend at my hip while seated on the bike. Not to mention the need to readjust the grip on a waved knife so I am not merely grabbing the very butting end of the handle. A readjustment, that, were I set upon by a rabevous werebadger, could prove disastrous.

By plane, snow machine and or dog sled..๐Ÿ˜‰....Beautiful part of this country.๐Ÿ‘Œ
In winter it is a 90 minute drive, then snowmachine. In summer I can drive to my small property and then take wheelers or SxS, or my 4x4 truck. Cabin is 6 miles from the road on 240 acres.

When riding on snowmachine- I carry a fixed blade tip up on left side snow bibs strap to allow easy access. I carry most blades 6โ€ and under, horizontally handle forward at about 1030 position which allows access with either hand from any position, and keeps the knife from getting snagged when busting through brush.

I used to have issues with losing clipped knives, however I can't stand knives rattling around in the bottom of my pockets with change, etc. So I use the clip.

My solution was a zero cost, zero modification of knife solution: mindfullness. I started paying attention to my body position so I didn't brush up against things, etc.

Also helps with reducing probability of my knife clip catching on something and bending, or scratching my car, that kind of thing.

๐Ÿ‘......Thanks..........

I have had clipped knives pulled out of the pocket when snagged on something more than one. I don't mind the pocket shredding at all, it is less prone to such losses.

For slipjoints I have a number of tethered pocket slips, including several buckaroo pouches from Horsewright Horsewright . They are quite secure, and I have yet to lose a knife from one. And they have the added bonus of holding the knife vertically in the pocket; before I got these it irritated me to have a knife laying sideways in the bottom of my pocket.

I lost couple of Swiss Army Knives when in the Army, I carried them in a flap closed sheath on my belt. That was not the problem, it was in civilian clothes, somehow they would fall out of my pants pocket. Way back around 2001, I got a 1/8-inch, bungie like cord from REI, about 18-inches long. Tied a loop on one end that slips behind my belt, then the other end of the cord with the SAK tied to it goes thru the loop. That way if I have to take the cord off, I do not have to open the belt. The stretch part of the cord, and it's length allow me to do about 95% of the tasks I use the SAK (a One Handed one), and I still have that SAK, after 24 years so it must be working. John

An interesting story that kinda flows into this thread about secure carry. I had a customer there in AK that built gizzlion dollar log cabins for folks moving up there and was also a hunting guide during the season. He lost one of my fixed blade knives because he'd replaced the leather thong with a paracord loop. He felt the looped paracord would be easier to grab. After brushing through some brush for a few miles one time, he realized his knife was gone. No idea where he'd lost it. He called me up and ordered another. He called me back about a year later and told me he'd found the original knife. It was hanging from a branch on this brushy trail he'd taken last year, lil worse for the wear. On his new one he didn't replace the leather thong/string/lanyard with a paracord loop this time. Now he understood why I didn't just loop a leather cord through there.

Not much for branches to grab and hang on too:

Very cool story and valid point.

Another trick that I read about somewhere on these forums is to put the knife at the bottom of your pocket and then put a bandanna or handkerchief in there with it. If done properly, it should keep the knife from sliding around and the knife will still be easy to grab as long as only those two things are in that pocket.
I like this in theory. The handkerchief can also prevent printing if done right. No knife silhouette = more discreet.

But I like putting other doodads in my front pocket. Iโ€™ll stick with clips.
