Knife collecting is like crack.

Is it like this for everybody? I hope I can get a handle on it before I need to have an intervention.
It can be like that when you get into the acquisition fever stage. Unfortunately there is nothing anyone can tell you while you are in that state that you will listen to. You will have to slowly come to the realization that you are accumulating a bunch of stuff that you really don't need, and then one day the spell is broken and you just don't want more stuff.

I think we need to introduce Corey to flashlights....
lol I've got a friend of mine that keeps trying to get me hooked on them, and several other guys keep trying to persuade me to buy a "tactical" pen, but I've been resisting the peer pressure.

Knife addiction is WAAAAY worse than crack addiction. There are well documented, moderately successful treatment programs for crack addiction. To date no "knife-head" has demonstrated verifiable recovery.

Also, knives are a proven gateway drug to firearm addiction, wristwatch addiction and various iterations of "gear" addiction.

Knives...they should all be destroyed...

I went thru a flashlight phase and just couldn’t justify paying $200+ for a flashlight. I have a bunch of amazing flashlights and headlamps that I use all the time and doubt I spent more than $60 on any of them.

There are some hardcore flashlight people though. Makes heavy duty “steel snobs” look perfectly normal. I never got why people fight about which is the best shade of white.

Bass guitars for me was costly. Luckily I found the best of the best for me and after 5+ years, I haven’t bought a thing.

These things can become very costly journeys though!

I'm slowly getting into this mind frame. I acknowledge that I own more knives that I will probably need in my lifetime. There's still part of me that brushes this logic aside, and clicks "confirm purchase". But c'mon sometimes you "need" a new knife!

However, my purchases typically are now more thoughtful, researched, and less frequent than before.

Also more expensive... gotta catch that high! Although I'm starting to realize my sweet spot is coming back to more reasonably priced folders.

I'm happy looking to add a few per year, but I think my few per month days are behind me.

I'm not new to knives but I recently got into survival type fixed blades and can't quit.
After getting one handmade drop point hunter (for hunting), I shifted to what I considered survival knives. This started back in the 80's. Rambo inspired me. The lust for these knives continues today. But, I have shifted to more general purpose woods type fixed blades with my money. It is a whole new world!! Break out the wallet!

I can honestly tell you that I need one moderate sized fixed blade for the woods. But did that stop me from getting most of the others? Nope. So enjoy the ride.

Does it ever really stop? Nope. You just switch to folders. Using them has almost nothing to do with it.

I do not have a problem.

Thankfully, I feel more normal after reading all of these posts.

I think I could quit crack easier than I could my knife addiction.

Then there are watches, firearms, tools, titanium everything, and USA made nylon gear. I'm completely fine. I swear.

Wow! I guess it could be worse.... TWC, Patek, Panerai, etc.;)

My Omega Seamaster, TAG and Apple Watch keep me happy along with some cheap Nixons, a Burberry and Casios.

Great collection though!

Thanks. I have been collecting watches as long as knives. I like seikos and citizens.
