Knife collecting is like crack.

Wow! Corey... I think you do need an intervention :)
I'm good now lol. Only bought 2 knives over the past year I believe.

What ever you do...Dont add up the cost of that spectacular table of sharp shiny things. You dont want to know....
I did that once, that's when I realized it was time to thin the herd. I've cut my collection in half since that pic.

I was on a binge of SAK collecting a couple years back. I didn't stop till I hit 180. During this last surge I have ignored SAKS and added 35 spyderco 8 ZT's, 17 kershaws, 3 Benchmade, 3 CRKT, 1 Kizer, 1 Ferrum Forge, Ontario ....... I will eventually get to a point when I will fade into the background for a while then the urge will bite me again and my fear is next time I will be hunting customs or other expensive additions to the collection.

Uh-Oh, custom collecting can get dangerously expensive; believe me. ;) It allows your desires for WHATEVER you think of to become expensive reality. There are some dangerously good craftsmen out there who will gladly fulfill your wishes.

I feel a little better now. After woodworking, scuba, motorcycles, stereo, and guns, my knife habit is pretty tame compared to most of you. I’ve pretty much satisfied my craving after a dozen nice folders. That beautiful ZT 0055 last week brought me to my senses.

Consumerism is everywhere. How many knives do you really need? The balance between want/need becomes blurry in a society where we live more comfortably than most. I love my knives but I have downsized and have stopped buying knives regularly. It’s partially due to constraints in my budget, but also a level of self control I’m trying to achieve. This shit is addictive, guys and gals. Anything that provides a soothing feeling has the potential for addiction. Take it from a recovered alcoholic. Think about the rush you feel waiting for that damn knife to get there, check tracking info etc. I’m not saying we are all addicted to the blade, but many of us are riding the train. Addiction is often seen as a bad thing. It’s only a bad thing if it starts to affect your life negatively.

Next step is to sell the Bravo and 1.25, and replace them with their respective -LTs.
Screw Survive... go with CPK. You'll also want a puukko from Malanika.
Thanks for another drug... now I'm hooked on the CPK stuff. Got a HDFK inbound.

I've never used crack, but I knew someone who did.
Off hand, I think collecting knives is much less expensive than a crack addiction. Especially when you take into consideration the legal fees, jail time, medical bills, and funeral and burial costs.

The addiction is real and it can be taxing on your finances and marriage lol. The forums like this one will just enable you to buy more knives that you "must" have. There always folks with deeper pockets than yours so word of advise do not try to chase the next "must have" that everyone is raving about. Research. Understand your needs and preferences. Stick to them. Pick a grail that is hard to obtain and which is in alignment with your needs and ideas of what perfect knife should be and do not buy intermediary knives until your grail is at hand.
