Knife collection cost?

I have around $500-$800 worth in knies (depending on if i sold them for what they're worth or for how much i paid for them. I received my knives for a really good deals! All thanks to Blade Forums! :D
 
Knives, + shipping costs = $3,000 this year alone. Plus I never sell my knives.

I'm really starting to slow down, however.
 
Around $700 so far. Trying to pass that $1000 mark before the years out. ZT 561, why do you tease me so?!
 
I made a bad mistake opening one of my Safes once with my wife (x-wife now) sitting in my Recliner and she glanced over and said ~~ holy crap ~~ just how many Guns to you have ~~ and I thought fast and told her most of the Guns that were in there belonged to a few of my friends as they had no Safes and I was keeping them for them ~~ good part is she believed me and from that day on I never opened a Safe with her around.!*
Now I have 2 Safes and one is for my Guns and one is for my Knives and I never can find what I am looking for when I open them up and it really bothers me.!**
I think I need another Safe and make it a 50/50 Safe for Knives and Guns so that I have room where I can find what I am looking for in them.!

My entire collection has cost me... $124.

Yep.

Only two folders, and one was a gift. Won some Beckers in the Becker subforum, and had purchased a single Becker and a Mora before that happened.

Grad school isn't free, so I can't afford to spend much on knives:(.
 
$5882 in the past 3 years. Spreadsheets can be terrifying things, even more so the day I realized that it hadn't been adding all the rows.

I have a similar problem, I have a compulsive need to shop for shit when I have extra money. I used to get high, so I spent everything on pills, now that I am sober (5 years) I have all this money, and it burns a hole in my pocket, so I started collecting knives, and guns, weapons in general, and other cool nicknaks and doodads, I still have saved a lot (over 10k is a lot too me) over the last 3 years, but I've spent about that much on my knives and guns.
 
$2,323.00 Just added them up. That only includes the knives I currently own. I spent thousands more, just keeping the ones I like. That is what was bought since 2009.

I don't think there's any reason to be depressed about it. Knife collecting is a positive hobby. The knives have value, sometimes they lose value but they can go up too. I have a serious problem with addiction. I've spent huge sums of money on drugs in my life, I'm talking 6 figure money for sure. That's depressing, I could have bought a house. So money spent on a + hobby is ok w/me. I mostly buy knives that are harder to find or discontinued or like Striders or Hinderers just not readily available so most of them retain value...I think, at least that's what I keep telling myself.
 
I carry a couple thousand dollars worth in my pockets every day. The total for my accumulation (collection implies some sort of structure, which I lack) is more than my house cost me.

I fear that I am looking at 10K through the rear view mirror. That said, I'll bet that RevDevil makes my sum look like pocket change. :)
