Knife collection cost?

I wouldn't want to know what I have spent up until this point to be honest haha. Not to mention if you include related items (sharpening kits, storage, upgrade parts, mods/pimp jobs etc.) then we'd all be very unpleasantly surprised. :D My eight current high-end/custom knives add up to around $2,700 which isn't too bad at all considering there are some people who drop half or almost all of that on one custom.

Just did a rough estimate according to approximate price I paid for my knives and was quite surprised that the number came to $7,718.00. . . maybe calculating cost of collection is not such a great idea. I felt a lot better about myself a few minutes ago when I did not have this calculation.

I carry a couple thousand dollars worth in my pockets every day. The total for my accumulation (collection implies some sort of structure, which I lack) is more than my house cost me.

That one fits me well and I will add that the car I drive is worth a whole lot less than the knife or knives in my pocket most of the time. :D

I am for about $7000 this time. I collected back in the 80's and sold or traded em all. I am in the process of down sizing again.

My problem is two-fold. I spend so darned much on knives because:
1) There are so many nice ones out there. I mean, there's just a whole bunch of them...
and
2) I have a PayPal account which links to my Credit Card. It makes it so easy until the monthly bill comes due...

:) Be careful, my friends...

I would say around 2 grand. Sonny you are crazy! 6 or 7 sebenzas in three months I think we need to send you to some sort of Blades Anonymous.

Sir, I think that you and my bud RevDevil are correct. One change that helps (somewhat) is that I've started trading rather than outright buying. Of course, I had to buy a bunch before I had enough to trade. One thing I'm sure of: You just don't know if you like a knife until you buy it...and by then it's too late if you don't.

Around $3500 for me..... I've come pretty close to completing my collection though. I realized what really gets me (and probably other knife nuts) in trouble is that I tend to get super hyped up when I get a Sebenza for example.... and before I've even had it for a day I would go looking up other variants of the Sebenza.

I came to realize that I don't need 5 different Sebenzas and 5 different striders. I try to have one favorite for each brand/model and I stop there. It takes a lot of self-control but the key is to just wait and let that excitement wear off. I think this hobby is way too addicting and easy to get carried away.

At least $2000. I've slowed down a lot though, I feel like I have most bases covered and now only buy knives that REALLY catch my fancy.

Probably quite a lot, but impossible to guess at value. Over 450 knives, some were gifts, many are inexpensive, many are old/discontinued and would be very difficult to assign values. Some have increased in value significantly, while others have fallen out of favor or are brands overlooked by collectors. I never spend much all at one time; I've been accumulating knives for over 30 years.

It's good to see I'm not the only one with an addiction problem:D

I'm in the lower $30K range right now (all balisongs knives). Most of the damage was done by Balibalistics (Shawn G.) and Terry Guinn.

I've never sold any of my knives and don't intend to. But hey, my happiness is worth it:)

I just tried to remember every Kershaw/ZT that costed more than $50.00 and so far I'm pass $4,200.00. I don't want to play anymore.

Just did the math spent about: $1,763.75 (current exchange rate) for it. But a lot of stuff I bought when the dollar was lower. Offcourse I paid shipping and such which kind of negates the whole low dollar thing.

I started knife collection less than 10 months ago, I'd say I'm nearing $3k. I'll be over that once I get my Strider.

With the knives I currently have.. around $1,600.
Add into that pens, flashlights, sharpening systems... Nearing $1,800.
Count all of the knives I've gotten rid of, traded, etc.... A lot lol.

Don't make me say it out loud, I'll depress myself haha. I have scope containment issues

I've been at this 9 years and have around 30 knives worth roughly $11,000. I plan to buy one expensive ($500+) knife a year for as long as this holds my interest.

I am going to make my Wife read this entire thread to justify my next purchase. "But Baby, I still dont have as much as the guys on BF...:D" Lmao.

Ive only spent about $500ish, but I try to find good prices and Ive traded up a few times so the value of what I have is more like $800ish. Which is still nowhere near you guys... and I thought I was obsessed. LMAO
