Knife collections? Lets see some pics!!

Here is one of my collections. They are Eisenhower pattern from Case. Ike used to give the Case equal end pen knife as a gift to White House visitors. He gave away a bunch of them. The ones he gave away are like the one at the top center of the collection with the brown jigged bone scales. That is a mint 1950's era Case equal end pen like the President used as gifts. The others, with his signature etched on the blade are the same pattern but named Eisenhower after the man that made them popular. They range in age but most of them are less than 10 years old.

Since I have a fresh shot of the Police line-up, I might as well toss it in here.

I haven't done one of these in a while, here's what was in reach. I've got some in storage, mainly the bigger stuff. I tossed in my favorite kitchen knife :)

Short of some Moras, SAKs, a few items out for projects, etc, here is most of it...sorry for the crappy pic.

1. Nice collection.
2. What the heck happened to the G-10 Spec-Bump?
3. Which knife is that blueish gray one at the bottom right?

That's a Kershaw Sapphire. Blue Ti scales, steel liner lock, AUS-8 (I think), and tip up or tip down clip. It's really a nice gentleman's folder.

Trix2004, your Pat Crawford flipper is beautiful!

Geez....where do I start, this is just a third of it....I still haven't found the one that's "Just right"...and I'm not too anxious to find it either. I'm a hobby knifemaker too but, those are usually gone shortly after I finish them. I donate them to benefit functions in my area as well as fundraisers for injured or sick co-workers.

Guys, please explain me something. Why would you add several of the exact same model into your collection unless it's extreemly rare or something? It's not like you gonna need a spare...

To some people, that's what a collection is. In my picture of Spyderco Police models, there are no two exactly alike. There are different handle materials, blade steels, markings, edge types, lanyard holes present or absent, etc. The scary part is, that isn't half of the variations that have been made.

Besides, if you are like me and actually use your knives, you may well need a spare. Or as I generally call it, a pre-need replacement.

It's Atony's Benchmade and Wolfjohn's Buck collection that got me wondering. I'm sure every collector has a goal, like you collecting all variants of the Spyderco Police. Mine is to have at least one knife for every possible purpose (have a long way to go). I don't think collecting as many as possible of one type of mass produced knife is a reasonable goal, there must be another explanation. :)

I do use my knives, each time a different one, so they won't get worn out any time soon.
