I realize there are probably forums better suited to this type of question but I've come to respect the opinions here in W&S and hopefully my knives will go to folks like you who actually use their equipment.

My question is whether you like knife combos or if I'd be better off marketing my knives individually. I hadn't really thought about a combo until I finished up the two knives pictured. I need to decide whether to make a sheath for both of them together or each of them seperately for an upcoming show.

Thanks for ANY input.

Holy crap those are REALLY nice. I would do a few matched combo sets, but offer individual too.

I like combos, but sometimes the "affordability" is a little out of reach. Where someone might be able to russle up some funds for one, it may be a little harder to get it for a combo.

Nice knives, BTW....

Those are quite nice looking! I think they can be offered in a set, if their uses complement each other well enough, such as a mid-large size main blade, plus a little fellow for food/game prep. I'd imagine you're more likely to sell the blades separately more quickly than together, but they'll be a great treat to those interested!

folks....listen here

You will NOT find a knifemaker who takes more seriously the comfort of the handle.

My SDS skinner is the MOST comfy knife I own. It's like holding soft butter in your hand.

Nice job!

Hmmm, I can see those packaged both ways and making a large splash. They look great.
I would say though, combos tend to look clunky unless the sheath is really good. With that in mind I would say seperately but with the combo option.

One way to sell a set is to match numbers. Is it possible to number the sets, and sell the individual knives without specific designations?

Lovely work.

add a Vic farmer and I'm set.

I got a sweet combo coming from David Farmer soon also!

having each of these, I think they stand alone quite well. I could possibly see a combo, but think they would be best served individually.

I really like this setup are they setup for scout carry and if so how is that working for you. I love this concept and have found a good way to carry unless wearing a pack. Have found an oversized stud sheath worn sash style through belt that I can take off and slide in tension straps on waist belt is alittle more versatile for my needs. I like combos I usually carry a large bowie/ camp knife and a small caper plus always a leatherman for extended hunting or camping trips. If I can not carry a large knife or on local none bush hunts I will carry a fixed blade in the 4 to 5 inch range and always in the field a leatherman of some type

I was gonna say- I do combos on request, but there one is!

JPanaree- koyote girl made the chopper sheath with horizontal rigging straps that hold the expedition sheath - the belt hanger just slkides on through and gets tied or even riveted if you wanted. (Screw posts from tandy work well, too.) The extra holes you see are adjustment points for setting height of carry or width of a belt or whatever. The smaller knife could also go horizontal carry (which for mea would mean verticdal on a pack strap)

I don't know what tony does, but the chopper is big enough and the hanger adjusts low enough for a thigh rig style if desired.

Shawn- specifically on your topic, that looks like a well matched pair for a lot of uses. The detachable/attachable sheath idea might work for you, too. But I could see a double pouch for those being perfect.

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions. I still haven't completely made up my mind but I'm leaning towards seperate sheaths but maybe make them matching so that if someone wanted both of them it would still look like they belonged together.
