knife combo or single knife?

i think a combo knife set would be kinda neat, but the price would be a bit higher obviously, so you probably wouldnt sell as many as you would single knives, but that pair looks very nice and well rounded.

tonym, that is a sweet looking set up. that chopper looks really nice. i will be ordering one in a month or so.

Appart from the high price, I guess that those two blades are not enough different in size as to pair them in a combo. I guess that combos make sense when you are carrying a smallish blade (Micro Canadian) and a big one (Canadian Camp). They are also heavier.

I think that selling them individually is a safer bet. You can always sell the knives individually but craft some combo sheaths and sell them as well. You get the best of both worlds!

For the last 20 years my most useful combination for general outdoor use has been a USMC KA-BAR, and a Swiss Army Knife Huntsman (because of the saw and scissors). This combo has carried me through thick and thin with outmost efficiency. H-Minus

I have to agree with Mikel. On the one hand the piggy back sheath package as you see sometimes with the leuko/pukko combos is visually appealing. But then buying it that way can be really limiting if you want to use one knife in isolation.

Bark river's sheaths seem to be designed as modular so that you can attach one sheath to the next. This seems like a good compromise as each knife has its own independent sheath but if you want to you can tie them together piggy back style.

Personally, I would think it would be harder to sell a knife as a combination set if your approach is to make a knife set and then offer them up on for example the makers forum. In this case you need to find a buyer who likes both knife designs equally well and is willing to buy two knives at once. Then on the other hand, I just ordered a custom set of knife combo's to my specs so the buyer market does exist.
