Knife Costs?

ok then , justified to whom ? I only have to justify something to myself ( ok , the wife too , if...I mean WHEN she finds out ).

Justification is just an interpretation of perspective :)

perhaps the same , but how could they do it better? please explain.

I mean "Better" by the fact that some higher end artsy knives are made with exotic steel blends for damascus effect and not cutting. So as a knife they are more art and less cutting/performance object.

Dont get me wrong, I love the looks of some of the knives out there. Im just one of those guys that like to use my knives. Im the same way with old guns. If I cant shoot it, I wont buy it.

Dave any knife worth its salt is made to use (use as in cutting.) If you do or not is up to you. Also some might see "use" as having it in a safe, while you may see "use" as cutting stuff. ;)

I started to collect knives in spring last year, purchasing two S&W folders. They were pretty cheap and today I don't use them anymore. The first literally bigger and more expensive knife I got was the Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie (around 60 euros). Then came several Opinels, nothing special. Then I came across a BK-7, which was really overpriced (I found out later of course). Nonetheless I 'needed' to buy it, for some strange reason.
Soon afterwards came another Becker: A BK-9. It was cheaper than the other one and I also had to buy it. There was no other way out...:D
When the first anniversary of my infection with the knifevirus came up, I added up all the money I had spent in the last year and I was shocked. I wouldn't have thought that a poor student could spend that much money on knives. It was 'only' around 1 000 euros and I began to wonder what this infection had made out of me.

It all ended up in buying a Swamprat Battle Rat for 200 straight. Is it worth it? Yes, it is for me. Could a CTD knife compete with it? Maybe... Would it feel so good to have one? No effing way!!!! ;)

Who knows where it will end when I'm really earning money...

Unfortunately I have owned a lot of knives that could not cut well, hold an edge or stand up to their intended use...and I dont mean the QVC knife show junk they sell.
