I recently ordered a Ontario USMC knife from them and recieved it in poor condition here's a link to a previous thread about the damaged knife: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=688141. Anyway I got this as a gift, looked at it for like ten minutes and saw all the damage to it. I had suspected, and still do, sort of, that it had been used prior to me getting it, or at very least damaged before shipment, as the shipping box was undamaged.

I returned it first chance I got that week and included an strongly but carefully worded letter along with it, though no where near as rude as my ones to others, dell, western digital, sprint, FDU. This prompted a call from the store, they say that they do not sell used knives and that the damage more than likely came from Ontario blah, blah blah, pretty much what I expected them to say; but I don't know about how true it is, but I won't get into my paranoia too deeply. I'll be as fair as possible about it though, they did not give me a hard time about the return or refund, and they did deposit the money back into my account soon after I recieved the call from them, they were very polite on the phone. Their customer service before I sent the letter with the return was mediocre and impersonal but not the worst I've ever seen either. They did ship in a reasonable amount of time.

So my first purchase with them wasn't the most pleasant thing I've ever dealt with. I won't completely disregard the possibility of any future business with them, right now however, I'm not in a big hurry to give them another chance yet. To sum it up in a in one short sound, my experience with them was, meh.

Looks like Zobair Barry has moved to a new location. Have you lost your keys only to find them in the most obvious place recently?

I think you got a returned knife that they restocked without inspecting. I know Ontario has some QC issues from time to time, but I've always gotten flawless knives from them.

Based on the damage, I concluded that the knife was used, I just don't see how Ontario could have missed that. They say it wasn't but I'll never know for sure.

What's Zobair Barry and what do my keys have to do with this?

Sounds to me like they were unaware of the knife damage, but did everything they could to remedy the problem ASAP without hassle. Sounds like a good dealer to me.

What kind of customer service were you expecting before you had a problem? I don't see how their CS could be mediocre and impersonal before they know you have a problem.

Sorry, I wasn't clear here, I had emailed them about the problem before sending it back to get the return address and some kind of number that I needed to put with the package. It took three e-mails to get that. Like I said, it wasn't the worst experience I've had with something like this but it was still kind of annoying. And it is possible they weren't aware of the damage, but is also equally as possible that they were, I will never know for sure, I'm just glad they weren't jerks about it.
