Medical Dictionary Definition:

"I Can't Wait-itis is a recognized medical syndrome characterized by extreme impatience, or an inability to wait for mail containing knives to arrive at normal speeds. Frequently the victim will contact the knife seller and demand overnight or 2 day delivery regardless of expense."

Am I the only one that will order a knife at whatever is the least expensive, or suggested means, only to get so impatient that I can't stand the wait, and will beg for a postal upgrade. Furthermore, I get jumpy, and think about the incoming knife all night.

Please advise on a cure, because the wife is irritated, and my lack of patience is costly.

My solution is to order a slightly cheaper (but still wanted!) knife on Amazon at the same time. Make sure it is Prime eligible (and that you have Amazon Prime) and get guaranteed 2 day delivery for free :) that way you have a new knife to play with while you're waiting for your new knife!

I have Amazon prime, and do this very thing. But lately my knives aren't carried by Amazon (mid-techs). Each time I order I tell myself I will have patience, and will play with my other knives until the new one arrives. But soon I start getting jumpy and recheck the shipping rates. And so on.

Alcohol in copious amounts while waiting generally will distract me to the point that by the time the hangover subsides the knife is here.

All kidding aside, usually I start researching my next knife, that'll keep me busy till it comes.

I've been waiting 17 months for a knife. Expected it in November. Every month that passes drives slightly crazier. Last I heard from the maker said I would have it by march. Now we are in April, still no knife. Its driving me nuts.

That is pretty much what I do - research my next "one and only Grail".

You know whats worse? When the post office doesnt send your parcel the day they receive it on their end. And you have to wait a whole. Additional. Day.

Yeah, there is nothing like ordering and checking the tracking every few hours. Then searching YouTube for videos and various forums for reviews. It's like every day is Christmas.

You guys cant complain, for us to get stuff in Canada takes about 2-3 weeks. I finally got all my knives in the mail and now I'm looking for new ones. It definitely is addicting.

A good way to cure the chronic "Ican'twaititis" is to become be Canadian... We are immune to this sickness. In the great liberal mindset of our country, and with the mental health of our citizens at hearth, the govment requires the Custom Agency to be particularly criptyc and slow.

I had a slight case of "efffivingtrackingnumberitis" when I bought my first knives, but now, I'm cured, and I'm happy when they show up.

I couldn't do that...literally. At my age, I might not have 17 months. Count your blessings, friend. :)

I'm sorry about that. Damned libs, anyway. I mailed one folder to Bavaria (south Germany?) and the fellow said, after about six weeks, that it was sitting in the Customs Office there, and that he should be able to go down and pick it up in another week or two.

Very true. Im anticipating a SouthFork to come in today. It is all I have seem to have been thinking sbout this past week.

To think, just a decade or so ago, shipping used to take 2 to 3 weeks. You know, before the internet ordering era.

I bought my first custom and the dealer was going to send it ground Fedex for free, 3-5 day delivery. I said, Fine. Thought about that knife all night. The next day I'm on the phone with him saying, could you upgrade that to 2 day service. Which he did.

I hate ups. They always deliver at minimum 5 hours slower than usps.
currently waiting for one to arrive today. I keep looking out my window every 30 seconds.

And every time you hear something with a diesel you swear it's the UPS truck? LOL.

I've grown patient as I get older. Been waiting a month for my Ratmandu. I just keep telling myself, Good things come to those who wait...........

Who am I kidding? I am SO ready to start gnawing on the furniture!

My nine month wait for my Hoback A10 ended on Friday, when Jake finished my knife. I'm pretty much ready to drive to Texas to pick it up if that makes me get it more quickly.

Man, you guys make me sound like a wimp. 9 month wait? I could not do it, even for a custom.
