Knife flick recommendations

"Conan, you can't trust anyone in this world, not man nor woman nor beast. [Points to sword.] But this... this you can trust!"

Does anybody remember good old "Conan the Barbarian"?

Yes, they were swords, not knives. but I think this film gives a good point of view on Steel and Its Mistery.

BTW, you can remember "Excalibur", by John Boorman.

Just had to add a few more:

The Crow - with Branden Lee and an entire assortment of CAS/Marto knives and swords.

Seven Samarai - by Kurosawa - a real classic and the best Samarai movie ever made. Its in Japanese with sub-titles but the film is so engrossing you will probably never notice it. (The film was remade in the US as the Magnificent Seven starring Yul Brenner - with guns and gunmen replacing swords and samarai).

Tarzan - various films with Johnny Wiesmuller. Features a big bowie knife and a limitless supply of rubber alligators.

Flight of the Intruder: stars a cold steel trail master and a Grumman A-6 Intruder in Vietnam.

I am sure I can come up with a few more ... but, its time to run off and rent a few more videos.

Well since you've brought up swords- there's one scene from one movie that just can't be overlooked! Raiders of the Lost Ark The scene, if you don't remember shows the BG doing all sorts of neat sword tricks, then Indy pulls his .45 and plugs him with one shot. I laugh myslef silly, silly I tell ya, whenever I see that one. Why not to bring a knife (sword) to a gunfight!

Nor'east Knives

There are two rules for ultimate success in life.
Never tell everything you know.

I had forgotten all about "Raiders". There is almost the same scene in "Temple of Doom" near the end but this time Indy's holster is empty, so he runs away. Sounds good to me!

If you are looking for a T.V. show "Special Ops Force" (S.O.F) on UPN has tons of knives I have seen Emerson Commanders, Spyderco Civilians and Ka-Bars in it plus lots more. For movies Cyborg I think it was had lots of knives even A Randall Arkansas Toothpick.

I just rented some old movies and one of them was Cliffhanger with Stallone. It's not really a knife movie but there is one scene where the helicopter pilot uses a Spyderco (Endura?) to cut an extreme parachutest out of a tree. He held the handle and flicked the blade down to open it, thought that was pretty neat

"Blind Fury", starring Rutger Hauer.

"The Big GunDown", "Run, Man, Run!", starring Lee Van Cleef, Tomas Milian. Amusing Spaghetti western, nice and thorough knife-handling, Music by Ennio Morricone.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I found and checked out "The Hunted" and "By the Sword" over the weekend (great movies, both), but wasn't able to come up with Exposure anywhere... and my better half nixed Shogun Assassin (I had seen it before anyway).

The Hunted was quite horrific in the slaughter of the innocents onboard the bullet-train... I had forgotten to study the credits but the lack of gore and the high casualty rate seems a trademark of Japanese films. Funny watching the Ninja's lack of success in finishing off Lambert...who we all know as the immortal Highlander and who proves again at the end that "there can be only one"

I'll take up on some of the other recommendations next weekend (and thereafter)... and hope to find some more gems out there (maybe even a few with knives instead of swords).

How about Platoon? Tom Berrenger used a CS Terminator push knife and William DaFoe had a CS Tanto strapped to his shoulder harness.

Sniper=K-Bar, Leatherman tool, mini-Smatchet,Al Mar Shadow dagger

The Abyss=Lainhart custom SEAL knife

Face Off=Kriss bladed butterfly knife
