I understand what you're saying, but don't you see a problem with how this thread has gone so far? The OP never said anything about the president carrying a knife because of violence or self defense.. it was the posters here that brought it up. I personally don't carry for self defense at all, never considered it, never will.

From what I've understood from pretty much everybody on this forum, a knife is a tool first and a weapon second. The fact that most people that have posted so far have automatically assumed "lefty liberal socialists" don't carry knives is an issue that should probably be addressed in a different section of this forum. As far as I'm concerned, whether or not somebody decides to carry a knife, for self defense or otherwise, comes down to personal preference, not political affiliation.

thats why i said most do. there are probably a few out there like you. from personal experience i notice people i already know are liberal seem to get a little cautious when they see my knife.

Ah okay, I see what you're saying. I guess I just find the automatic gross generalizations between right/left wing and carriers/non-carriers a little strange. I'm accepting of everybody on this forum, even though I don't carry for the same reasons. I sort of expected everybody else to feel the same way, I guess.

They don't hate violence.
That's their cover for cowardice.
Janet Reno had no trouble killing children or raiding private homes with no knock raids and SWAT teams.
Liberals loved that violence.
They just don't want us non-liberals fighting back when they send someone else to force their will upon us.
That violence they do hate.

This is the kind of generalization I'm referring to. Simply put, it's unnecessary, and feeds into stereotypes about liberals/conservatives.

And Janet Reno left office in 2001. To say a lot has happened since then politically in the United States would be a ridiculous understatement.
 
i recently saw a picture that i hope to find again of him pre-elected givin a speach somewhere in ohio and i looked at his pocket and lo an behold something was clipped to it! and i looked at it pretty closely and it was obviously something pointy! if i find the pic again ill post it.

Just an FYI, Obama isn't the President yet. A lot of people, including the media, seem to have forgotten that.
